Information from the forms helps our school and district qualify for
millions of dollars in federal money for education
access to healthy, nutritious food
support that will keep education taxes from going up in our community.
Families who return or fill in their Household Income Forms online here: https://education.vermont.gov/householdincome by Friday, September 29th will be entered into the RAFFLE to win a family fun pack which includes:

NEWS AND PICTURES
OPEN HOUSE TITLE 1 MEETING
On Thursday evening, following Open House teacher and classroom visits, a modest number of family and staff members attended a meeting in the cafeteria lead by principal, Dr. Stephanie Gagnon and assistant principal, Ms. Stacie Rouleau. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the Title 1 funding our school receives and to give our school families an opportunity to voice their interests on how the funding is used. There will be a similar meeting for families in the spring. We qualify for Title 1 funding because of the income levels of many of our families. The funds help us offer after school programming, healthy nutrition and special family events, among other things.
You can check out the 9-slide image show presented by Principal Gagnon at the Title 1 meeting at Open House at this link.
OPEN DOORS COMMUNITY SERVICES
On Thursday afternoon, the community services group went to the school garden and picked beets, peas, lettuce and tomatoes. They worked so hard and filled up a total of 7 buckets. Plus, they composted a ton of rotten vegetables, and they also provided some cleanup of the garden. The community service group will be working again on the garden next week, and harvesting pumpkins too. Link to 7 Pictures.
VOYAGERS PRIDE
Members of team Voyagers take frequent opportunities to wear their Voyagers T-shirts to boost team spirit. Ms. Bashaw shared these photos. Link to 4 Pictures.
OPEN HOUSE
There was a wonderful turnout of families for the Open House event on Thursday evening. Every teacher and classroom were visited by multiple families. As people entered the school, many filled out the family income form qualifying them for entry into a raffle for meals, movie tickets and pool passes. Others signed up for background checks to be able to go on field trips. Ms. Smith demonstrated the new visitor sign-in system for our building. We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest families showed by visiting St. Albans City School at the end of a long day. Thank you. Link to 56 Pictures.
OPEN DOORS STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Two soccer players filled in as Open Doors leaders by teaching students a dance and by leading them through a great game of musical chairs. Link to 3 Pictures.
FRIDAY TWINS
Their similar clothing was noticed in the cafeteria at breakfast on Friday.

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Did you know it is National Hispanic Heritage Month? It is celebrated in the U.S. from September 15 to October 15 and recognizes the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements in the United States. Checkout these books in our library today!
DREAMERS
We are resilience. We are hope. We are dreamers. Yuyi Morales brought her hopes, her passion, her strength, and her stories with her, when she came to the United States in 1994 with her infant son. She left behind nearly everything she owned, but she didn't come empty-handed.
Dreamers is a celebration of making your home with the things you always carry: your resilience, your dreams, your hopes and history. It's the story of finding your way in a new place, of navigating an unfamiliar world and finding the best parts of it. In dark times, it's a promise that you can make better tomorrows.
MY PAPI HAS A MOTORCYCLE
A celebration of the love between a father and daughter, and of a vibrant immigrant neighborhood, by an award-winning author and illustrator duo.
When Daisy Ramona zooms around her neighborhood with her papi on his motorcycle, she sees the people and places she's always known. She also sees a community that is rapidly changing around her.
But as the sun sets purple-blue-gold behind Daisy Ramona and her papi, she knows that the love she feels will always be there.
ACROSS THE BAY
Carlitos lives in a happy home with his mother, his abuela, and Coco the cat. Life in his hometown is cozy as can be, but the call of the capital city pulls Carlitos across the bay in search of his father. Jolly piragüeros, mischievous cats, and costumed musicians color this tale of love, family, and the true meaning of home.
