Principal's Cardinal Connection
I am excited to join the Newark Valley CSD team!
Principal's Introduction
Hello Newark Valley Community!
I want to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Nathan T. Hall Principal. I am so excited to meet all of the Newark Valley students, staff members and families. Even though I am starting as the "new" principal, I am not new to the district or to being a principal. My first teaching job was in NV about 22 years ago. I taught first, second and third grades. In addition to teaching, the district also supported my leadership journey by allowing me to work as a Reading Coordinator and District Data Coordinator for one year each. I left NV in 2017 to pursue my administrative career as a principal in the Greene CSD. I was the Primary School Principal there for seven years before returning to NV. I am so excited to get started, it is nice to be "home".
Fun Facts about me:
*My first name is January and yes, I was born in January!
*I have a husband of 26 years, three children and one grandson.
*I love to hike, ski, read, garden, spend time with family and friends and I love a great workout!
*Both of my maternal grandparents and parents graduated from the Newark Valley School District.
*My husband and I owned our first home in Berkshire on Brown Rd.
*I love to live life and share the joy of life with all my littles I work with each day. The best part of working in a Primary School is the fun, love and positive energy you get from being around young kids. They have a way of always boosting your confidence and making you feel like a rockstar!
School Philosophy:
I feel it is my responsibility to help maintain a safe and caring learning environment for students and staff. We will focus on learning, especially in the area of literacy. I will do my best to support the various needs of all students and staff members.
If you would like to meet with me, I will be in the office most of the summer. You can call the NTH office to make an appointment.
Again, I look forward to meeting the NV students, staff members and families.
Your NTH Principal,
Mrs. January Pratt
