The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
I cannot believe we will be entering the month of May this week! We really enjoyed seeing all of our families this past week at our Family Picnic Week! Thank you for those who were able to come and spend time at lunch with us. Child development parents we are excited to let you know that we have added our child development students to the Mother Goose is on the Loose performance with our kindergartners. We are having this performance on May 7 at 6 P.M. Lastly, we are hearing that our Stingray Swirl ice cream flavor at Stella's Ice Cream is doing really well! I have tried it and it was really delicious. Stingray Swirl is vanilla ice cream with a mix of sea salt, caramel, and dark chocolate chunks. We hope you can visit and help us win the Ice Cream Wars at Stella's Ice Cream! Visit Stella's Ice Cream starting April 22 through May 5! It looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend and we can't wait to see everyone back at school on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed.D

Wear Purple on Tuesday, April 30
While we celebrate the Month of the Military Child all throughout April, we will recognize Purple Up Day next week on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024! Wear purple to celebrate military kids!
Purple references the joint environment of the military, encompassing all service branches, Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans. Purple combines each branch’s colors into one: the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard all use shades of blue, the Army uses green, and the Marines use red.
Visit www.horrycountyschools.net/purplestar to find resources for military families in HCS!
April is Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance Month. HCS is proud to celebrate the unique strengths and abilities of individuals with autism and to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. By promoting understanding and acceptance, we hope to create a more compassionate and inclusive community for all. Visit https://autismsociety.org/ to learn more.
Our very own Officer Mike made us pins that many staff members have been wearing all month as well as many members wearing Autism Acceptance shirts! They’ve created great natural opportunities for conversation with our students!

Dear Seaside Parents and Guardians,
As of Monday, April 15, 2024, library books will no longer be available to check out to students with outstanding fines and/or lost books. We currently have approximately 400 books that are overdue, lost, or damaged.
After 90 days from the checkout date, overdue library books automatically turn into “lost” books and a fine is applied to the student’s account.
Should fines be satisfied, or overdue/lost books be returned, book checkout can resume until Friday, May 17, 2024.
Payments can be made by check (made out to Seaside Elementary), cash (exact amount only - no change can be given), or on www.MyPaymentsPlus.com.
Thank you so much for understanding. Any questions please reach out to Ms. LaValley at alavalley@horrycountyschools.net

Lost and Found!
This is the last week that we will be keeping items. We have had a lot of these items in our Lost and Found for about 6 months or more.
Parents we have so many items in our Lost and Found! If your child is missing something most likely it is in our Lost and Found. You are more than welcome to come up to the school to check everything out. As a parent myself I know and understand how expensive clothing can be. We are trying to make sure that any lost items are returned to our families. Please check out the pictures and see how much we have. We have so many items it is getting where we can no longer keep everything. Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of April. Thank you!
Please check your child's backpack!
Seaside Families, I cannot stress this enough. We are seeing a big increase with things that should be staying at home. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys, key chains etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble. Students do not need to bring any sports equipment or balls to school. We have more than enough equipment for students to use. For those who bring water bottles to school, please send in a water bottle with a strong lid. We are seeing lots of spills lately. We thank you in advance for doing this! We really appreciate it!

🦺 Safety 🦺
Traffic Reminder!
For safety purposes I am reminding all of our parents that between the hours of 7-8 A.M. and 2-3 P.M. there is a sign at the end of the road that says to make a right turn on to Highway 17. Please be safe and follow all road signs. Thank you for your help with this.
Safety Drills!
Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.
Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
Morning Car Rider Line!
Please help out with our morning car rider line! The car rider line is empty from 7 till 7:25 A.M. Right at that last 10 to 15 minutes is where everything gets really busy. Please help us out in the morning and come earlier so when the bell hits at 7:40 A.M. all of our students will be in the building. This way our instruction can start on time. I appreciate all of your help with this. Please do not drop your student off before 7 A.M. We do not have staff on duty until 7 A.M. Thank you for your help with everything.
