Meaux Elementary March Newsletter

Meaux Elementary is teaming up with Beanies for St. Jude Children's Hospital. They are in need of individual microwaveable cups of Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meatballs, Mac and Cheese or Ravioli. We are collecting these items to help restock the homes that house the patients and parents of St. Jude. This is an item the parents can quickly heat and get their sick children to eat.

All donations need to be received by March 14, 2025. A Vermilion Parish team of volunteers will then deliver the items to St. Jude. Thank you for your help with this service project. TEAM MEAUX let's go!

In order to better protect our students, visitors, and staff, all visitors will be required to show a valid government-issued ID when checking in at the front office. Upon leaving, all visitors will then sign out at the front office. We thank you for your cooperation.

Students, faculty, and staff at Meaux Elementary were entertained on Monday, February 24 by the NVMS Lache Pas students., under the direction of their teacher Madeline DeHart. They shared Mardi Gras cultural heritage and traditions and performed traditional Cajun musical selections on Cajun instruments. The importance of keeping the local culture and historical traditions of Mardi Gras was shared. Our students were able to play instruments and learned traditional two-step and waltz dances indicative of the Cajun culture.

Classes who attained the monthly attendance goal for the month of February will be rewarded with a "Wear your Favorite Color Day" on Tuesday, March 11th. Individual students who earned perfect attendance for the month of February will be awarded a special Brag Tag to add to their attendance necklace. Teachers will be notified if their class met the monthly goal and will send out messages through class DoJo. One of our schoolwide goals this year is maintaining at least 97% or higher attendance for the year. We appreciate your support in seeing that your children are in attendance at school each day. Attendance Matters!

Thank you for being so supportive again this year. Because of our students and our AMAZING community, we raised $10,023.00 ONLINE in LIFESAVING funds to help fight heart disease and stroke. We had 171 students who took the HEART healthy online challenge! In addition, 44 of these students learned hands-on CPR through FINNS MISSION. You did an incredible job in truly helping us build a community of lifesavers! We cannot thank you, our students, parents, faculty, and community enough!

Special thanks to our PE teacher, Mrs. Caldwell for doing an incredible job of coordinating the event.

The Mendoza Ford Truck Ticket Raffle for a chance on a 2024 Ford F-150 4x4 STX and seven other opportunities to win great prizes is ongoing at Meaux. Tickets may be purchased online. The winner of the truck must be 18 years of age or older and responsible for Tax Title & License. The winner need not be present. All proceeds of ticket sales at Meaux will benefit Meaux Elementary.

The deadline to purchase tickets OnLine is April 3, 2025. All proceeds come back directly to our school.
