Robison Elementary School
December 2024
Welcome to December
As the holiday season approaches, we’re excited to bring you a month full of activities, resources, and opportunities for families to engage with our school. This newsletter highlights key events and support available to all our families.
.
Character Trait of the Month: Perseverance
This month is all about Perseverance. One way to think about Perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up.
Perseverance is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Strong. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting.
How might you practice Perseverance as a family this month?

Winter break is the perfect time to blend fun and learning, keeping your child’s mind engaged while allowing them to relax and recharge. Here are some creative and enjoyable activities to try:
1. Creative Projects: Encourage your child to explore arts and crafts, write stories, or build with blocks or Legos. These activities foster creativity, which helps improve problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
2. Educational Outings: Visit museums, zoos, or local landmarks for hands-on learning experiences. Did you know the Pima County Library offers cultural passes? These passes provide free tickets to many local attractions, making it easy to spark curiosity and learning on a budget.
3. Family Reading Time: Choose a book to read together as a family. This not only strengthens literacy skills but also creates meaningful memories.
4. Learning Games: Play board games or apps that promote math, strategy, or vocabulary development. These make learning feel like play.
By weaving fun and education together, you can help your child stay mentally active and ready to dive back into school after the break.

OMA News
Season's greetings from the OMA room! In December we will be learning about world holiday celebrations and The Nutcracker. We have been working hard in all grades to get ready for our performance at Winter Fest Tuesday, December 17th, starting at 5pm. For our concert, please feel fee to dress students in their holiday best. This could be a nice dress, or pants and a holiday sweater or shirt (red, green, or white preferred). Happy Holidays!

December brings us guest visitors from the Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the adaptive sports community, while playing fun wheelchair games as well. We will finish the year with some holiday themed P.E. games

The egg drop culminates in December with the Tucson Fire Department arriving Wednesday, December 4 at 10 AM! Students will be testing out their egg drop designs! This event has become a Robison tradition and is always lots of fun!
We will get to see the stars in our very own planetarium! I will be giving astronomy talks throughout December and students will visit our inflatable planetarium to get a closer look at the stars and other bodies in space!
