Tip of the Month: Utilizing Resources
Academic Support for Students in the Teaching and Learning Center
The Teaching and Learning Center is housed in the library this year at WKHS. Students have the opportunity to study in a quiet and more structured environment. Academic assistants are available all day long to provide support to students in the four core content areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students can access the academic assistants during their lunch periods, academic prep, or options.
Academic Assistants:
- English - Weezy Elliott at melliott@wscloud.org
- Math- Jennifer Orlins at jorlins@wscloud.org
- Social Studies- Kelly Rhoades at krhoades@wscloud.org
- Science- Angie Hoffman at ahoffman@wscloud.org
Staying Aware: Student Online Usage
Using the Securly website or Securly Home App, parents can monitor and define appropriate Internet access for their students when on a district Chromebook away from our schools. You can determine the appropriate categories and sites your student has access to. More details can be found at our Parent Securly Information.
Securly Alerts:
Worthington Schools building leadership receive alerts when activity such as searches or sites visited indicate a student may be considering self-harm or harming others. This service was implemented so that school administrators are able to partner with you to provide a safer online experience. Worthington Schools monitors these alerts during normal school hours. If an alert is received after hours or over a break, it will be addressed the next school day. If you want to receive these alerts too, you can do so by installing the Securly Home App and turning alerts on. More information can be found by clicking here: How to use the Securly Home App. Enabling the app and turning alerts on will allow you to receive alerts outside normal school hours.
Securly Parent Features:
The Securly Home app has the ability for parents to:
● View your student’s activity feed
● View and enable alerts for flagged activity
● Manage, allow and block rules
● Set an offline schedule
● Pause Internet (New Feature)
Please note that not all of these capabilities are available if you access Securly through the web portal. These features are specific to the Securly Home app.
If you need specific support from Securly you can access their parent support site here or email them at homesupport@securly.com

Staying Informed: Infinite Campus Monitoring
As a parent you can log in through the Parent Portal on your phone or home computer and view schedules and grades. If you don't know your parent User Id and Password, send an email to support@wscloud.org from the email address we have on file for you, and request the information. Course grades are in real-time in Infinite Campus. By logging into Infinite Campus through the Worthington Portal with your parent login, you should be able to see your student's grades at any time.
Additional Support:
- Care Closet: The "Care Closet" is a designated area where a group of Worthington Kilbourne HS moms in the Activity Club have stocked a wide range of personal care items that individuals may want/ need but not have the extra money to keep on hand. For example, in the Care Closet you can find shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant and so much more! And it is all there FREE for anyone who could benefit from a little extra help. The Care Closet is actually a set of file drawers located in the Counseling Center. Please know that we WANT you to use this resource. That is why they provide it for our families. So, if this is something that you know would help your family, please stop and see your counselor so that we can point out where the supplies are located. And then, in the future, you can always go to the Care Closet area and help yourself to any materials that you or your family need.
- Free or Reduced Lunch Opportunity: We know that at times some families experience difficulties finding a way to make ends meet. Making sure that all students have the opportunity to eat is very important to us. Your family may qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. There is an application which must be completed annually.
- Food Assistance: There are also resources in the community which help students and families with food. The Worthington Food Pantry is located at 445 East Dublin-Granville Rd in Worthington. Several community churches offer free dinners open to all community members each month. This sheet highlights the dates and locations of these dinner opportunities. Hot meals are always of value to individuals and families who are struggling. Please refer to this sheet with information about weekly dates and locations for these meals.
