Gahanna Lincoln High School
2024-2025
A Message from Mrs. Williams
I want to take a moment to address an important topic: Weapons and School Safety. Ensuring a safe and secure environment for our students is a top priority, and your partnership is crucial in maintaining this safety.
Please be reminded that weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited on school grounds. This includes firearms, knives, and any other items that could potentially pose a threat to our students and staff. To keep our school community safe, we ask that all firearms be securely stored in your homes, out of reach of children.
Additionally, it is important to be aware of the potential impact of look-alike or toy weapons. Even though these items may seem harmless, they can cause unnecessary alarm and disrupt the school environment. We appreciate your support in ensuring that such items are kept at home.
The consequences of bringing a weapon to school are serious and can include disciplinary action and involvement of law enforcement. We take these matters very seriously to ensure the safety of everyone in our school community.
Here are a few action steps you can take to help maintain a safe environment:
- Check Your Student’s Bag Daily: Ensure that no prohibited items are brought to school.
- Secure Firearms: Make sure all firearms in your home are stored safely and securely.
- Discuss Safety with Your Child: Talk to your student about the importance of not bringing weapons or look-alike items to school.
For additional guidance on firearm safety and secure storage, please take a moment to watch the PSA from Superintendent Dr. Tracey Deagle and Gahanna Police Chief Jeff Spence, which was shared last school year. You can find the video linked here.
Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our school a safe and welcoming place for all.

Family Conferences
We will hold our 2024-25 GLHS Family Conferences Thursday, September 26 and Tuesday, October 1. Conferences will take place from 4:00-7:30 pm both days. We will once again have the option to meet in-person or virtually.
During these conferences, families will have the opportunity to connect with teachers and counselors to learn more about your student's academic experience at GLHS.
Parents can schedule time to meet with individual teachers and staff members by using MyConferenceTime.com/glhs. When scheduling times to meet with teachers, please only reserve one (1) conference time per teacher and be mindful of the allotted time, as our staff's goal is to meet with as many families as possible each evening.
If you need assistance in signing up for MyConferenceTime, please view the following tutorial video here. If you have any questions, please contact the main office at (614) 478-5500.
We are off to a great start for the school year and thank all of our families for their support and collaboration in displaying PRIDE here at GLHS.

Tardy Policy Reminder
Arriving on time allows students to fully engage in their learning from the start of class and minimizes disruptions for others. Just as consistent attendance is essential, so is punctuality. It teaches responsibility and helps students build strong habits that will serve them well throughout life.
Key Points of the Tardy Policy:
- Students are expected to be in class each period and ready to learn when the bell rings.
- Tardies accumulate throughout the day: Because attendance is taken each period, students can accumulate multiple tardies in one day. For example, if a student is late to four classes in a single day, that will result in four tardies for the quarter.
- Four tardies within a quarter will result in a warning and a parent/guardian and student notification.
- Eight tardies within a quarter will lead to a meeting with our Behavior Specialist to identify and address any challenges contributing to late arrivals.
- Twelve tardies within a quarter will result in a serving an Extended School Day (after school detention) from 3:30 PM - 4:45 PM.
- Sixteen tardies within a quarter will result in a serving a Saturday School from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM.
- Further tardies will result in additional consequences, such as a Tardy Contract, and a continued effort to work with families to support timely attendance.
We recognize that mornings can sometimes be challenging, and we're here to help. If you or your child are experiencing difficulties with transportation, scheduling, or other barriers that may affect arrival times, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their school counselor. Our goal is to support your child’s success, not just enforce rules. We want to work together to ensure that every student has the tools and resources they need to arrive on time to class and ready to learn.
