Toucan Families,

And just like that, we are in December. Wow! We are almost half of the way through the school year. During this month, many of our families will begin shopping, baking, and getting ready for the holidays that they celebrate. While these things are happening outside of school, our Toucans will still be working really hard in the classroom. Saturday, December 3rd - 4:00 PM

Reynoldsburg Senior Center

This is an optional though super exciting opportunity for our 3rd and 4th grade choir students! Our 3rd and 4th grade choir students have been asked to sing some Christmas songs and one choir student will be selected to light the tree with the Mayor! Choir students are invited to wear red/green or any winter sweater they have!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Slate Ridge from December 5-15th. Students will be able to shop the bookfair during their Library time.

We will be having a fundraising event at Noodles & Company (2166 Baltimore-Reynoldsburg Rd) on Tuesday, December 6th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Mention our fundraiser at the register, show the flyer, or order online using the code GIVING25 and Noodles & Company will donate 25% of sales to our school. Funds raised will be used for student incentives and activities throughout the school year.

Our 3rd and 4th Grade Choir will have their Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:00 PM. Doors open for the audience at 5:30 PM. Please join us for a night of holiday cheer!

HELP US SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER AT SLATE RIDGE ELEMENTARY!

• Wednesday, 12/14 - Candy Cane Day! Wear RED and WHITE; Purchase a Candy Cane for $1.00

Candy Canes will be on sale for $1.00 to all Slate Ridge students grades K-4 on Wednesday, December 14th. All proceeds will go towards student incentives and activities during the school year.

Indoor recess will occur if either the temperature or wind chill is below 25 degrees Fahrenheit or outdoor conditions do not permit safe play. If you need assistance with coats or hats, please contact our main office at 614-501-5500.

Parents/Guardians are required to report all absences for their child to the school office the day the child is absent. Please call the office at 614-501-5500 and speak to the secretary or leave a message, stating your child’s first AND last name, your name, and the reason for the absence. The school office must be notified of your child’s absence within two hours of the start of the school day. To excuse an absence, the guardian must provide a written or emailed parent note to excuse up to ten (10) absences per school year. The 10 excuse notes can be used for full-day absences, early dismissals and late arrivals. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please call the office.

TARDIES: Students who arrive to school after 8:10 am are considered tardy. Those students will need to be brought into the office through the main front doors by a parent/guardian and signed in.

HOUSE BILL 410: If a student reaches Habitually Truant status, families will be contacted to have an Attendance meeting with the child's absence intervention team. During the attendance meeting, a sixty calendar day plan will be developed to monitor student attendance. If you have any questions regarding attendance, please contact Mrs. Spangler in the office.

We have many, many items filling up our Lost and Found tables. If your child is missing something, please have them check the Lost and Found table. As we head into the colder months, consider labeling your students items with their first and last name.
