Our Spiritual Theme: We Walk by Faith
August & September Focus: We Walk by Faith... in Wisdom
Spiritual Reflection by Miss Sheila O'Callaghan
God has provided the month of September for all of us. The weather is good and we are still enjoying sunny warm days. The land is beautiful. It is good to give God thanks and praise for all the love He has poured out on us and for all the good days still to come.
Sunday, September 22, is the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Autumn begins on the 22nd. God once again is showering us with His love and a new season to enjoy.
The first day of autumn is also called the autumn equinox. The exact middle of the Earth is turned toward the Sun. This gives us an equal amount of daylight and darkness. It is a “day of balance”. Buddhists call it Higan-e. For them, the equinox is a symbol of peace, equality and harmony.
Some signs of autumn are that the hours of darkness will grow longer than the hours of daylight. With less daylight the air becomes cooler. We will see a change in the trees. The leaves will show us their true colors. ItemAll these wonderful changes have been planned by God to once again show His great love for us.
Saint Cosmas and Saint Damian are remembered on Thursday, September 26. These brothers were born in Syria. They became doctors. When Cosmas and Damian lived, it was against the law to be a Christian. They died for their faith in about the year 300.
On September 27, we remember Saint Vincent de Paul. He was born in France in 1581. He moved to Paris when he was a young priest. He organized groups to help people pray and serve the needs of others. Vincent loved the poor, especially children. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is named for him. Its members supply food and clothing to those in need. St. Vincent’s example inspired a man named Frederick Ozam to start the organization in the United States.
We remember Saint Wenceslaus on September 28. He was a duke of Bavaria, a country which later became part of Czechoslovakia. That country was broken up by civil war.
Let us look to our saints and be inspired by their goodness and pray for peace among all people.
Please pray for the sick, especially Fr. Mink, Mrs. Miriam Harris, Oliver Conaty, and all the sick of our parish. Please continue to pray for Maureen Engelbert. Pray also for our Armed Forces and First Responders.
Thank You, Parents!
Thank you for joining us for Back to School Night last week! We hope that your visit gave you an opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and fellow parents and for us at St. Ann's to express that we value your partnership in the education of your children. We welcome ongoing conversation and connection this school year, and remind you to be on the look out for parent-teacher conference appointment information on October 24 & 25, 2024!
Tuition Assistance Information for 2025-26 School Year
Vision for the Future 2025-2026 Applications Open through January 2025
Applications for tuition assistance (Vision for the Future) for the 2025-2026 school year are now being accepted through January 31, 2025. Notification of awards will begin on March 1, 2025.
You can submit an application through FACTS here: https://online.factsmgt.com/SignIn.aspx.
This tuition assistance is made possible, in part, through an annual diocesan-wide campaign to collect donations. Bishop Koenig explains:
I am pleased to announce the Share in the Spirit tuition assistance campaign. This campaign is a powerful expression of our Catholic community’s spirit of sharing and solidarity. It is not just an opportunity for each of us to reach out and support one another; your active participation ensures that every child who desires a Catholic education can receive it, regardless of financial circumstances.
On the weekend of September 21-22, we will hold a special collection in our parishes for the Share in the Spirit campaign. I ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation during this collection. Your generosity will bridge the gap for families who need assistance, making Catholic education a reality for more children in our Diocese. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of these children, giving them the gift of a Catholic education.
Please consider passing news of this on to loved ones, neighbors, and others in your social network to help expand support for the Vision for the Future fund!
