Principal's Message
The Why
Newsletters are a quick way to increase family and school communication. Families are busy, we get it and this is one way to help keep people in the loop about important dates, events happening in the classroom and at school. We are off to a great start of the school year and would like to share a little of what has been happening!
Conferences -We want to see you!
Conferences are Oct. 12th & 17th
Conferences for the fall will be scheduled through Skyward. It's only takes a few clicks. Please use the following Google Doc for help with steps: Skyward Conference Steps
Classroom Connections
Art
Immerse yourself in the creative energy of our Art room! From mastering Premiere Pro and exploring camera angles in Video Production to designing psychedelic posters in Art Fundamentals, our students have been on an artistic journey. Meanwhile, Painting class wrapped up a Neurographic unit.
What is being taught in the Ag. Room?

Computer Science
AP Computer Science A (Java) has been working on coding programs to produce images of their choice (see the photos).
Junior High Programming has been working on creating apps using the App Lab on code.org.
Python Fundamentals has gotten to the point that students can code a mad-lib.
Language Arts-6th Grade
Reading:
We read works by Roald Dahl & created narrative writing essays in this unit. Through some lively readings from Roald Dahl’s memoir Boy, we learned how to work closely with textual evidence.
Writing:
Students began with narrative writing to quickly boost their interest and confidence and learned the foundational skill of focus.
Math
Algebra 2 learned about different types of sequences and how to write the rules using math terms and symbols. Next, they will learn about polynomial functions and all of their important features.
AP Calculus has been learning about limits and proper notation. AP Precalculus has covered several different topics that students were introduced to in past courses, such as rate of change, equations of lines, and function notation.
Physical Education
Students began the year completing fitness testing to gain an understanding of their current level of fitness in four different areas of health (Aerobic Capacity, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Flexibility).
For additional info on these tests: https://fitnessgram.net/assessment/
Science
Early in the year Chemistry students learn the importance of recording data accurately!
7th and 8th grade science has spent time establishing science norms. Students choose an area to focus on each class and a specific action to improve and be mindful of for the hour.
Respectful- Our classroom is a safe space to share.
Equitable- Everyone's participation and ideas are valuable.
Committed to our community- We learn together.
Moving our science think forward- We work together to figure things out.
Spanish
In Spanish I like to give students opportunities to learn through games, not just lectures, worksheets and quizzes. In Spanish 1 we played tortuga (turtle) to practice basic vocabulary before our next quiz. In Spanish 2 we played muévete (move yourself) to practice speaking. Right now they are expressing what they like and don’t like to do using the verb gustar.
Tech Ed
GIC: students are learning about scale factor and area as it relates to construction.
Robotics: students are finishing their virtual coding exercises and are beginning to build physical robots that will be coded.
Woodworking: Students have begin learning how to safely use the equipment and are building cutting boards.
Building Construction: learned about floor framing and will soon begin construction of a shed.
IED: students have learned about design, and have begun an energy conservation competition for the school.
