Safford PreK-8 Community School of Excellence
Please join us for Safford Arts, Movie, & Astronomy Night
We would love for you and your family to join us for an exciting event April 26th. All students are welcome to come as long as they are accompanied by their parents/guardians. We will have food trucks, telescopes, Folklorico, Orchestra, and Band performances, and an art show. We will be watching the movie Encanto! We hope to see you and your children there!
Please know:
- students not enrolled in 21st Century will need to be off campus by 4:00pm. There is no supervision unless they are in a class for 21st Century.
- students must be accompanied to come to the event
- students without supervision at 5:00pm will need to be picked up

Register Your Child Now at Safford K-8!!
Safford K-8 is now a B rated school and we would love for you to help us spread the word about our amazing school. We are currently registering students for the following year. We offer a unique before and after school program with both enrichment and tutoring classes. We have lots of new clubs this year and next including Folklorico, Mariachi, Cheerleading, Student Court, and Student Leadership. We have an onsite clothing bank at Safford and on Fridays we provide meals for students to cook with their families at home. Please call us anyday at 225-3000 to schedule a tour and check us out!
Non Stipend Assistant Coaches
Non-stipend assistant coaches are required to complete the volunteer application and complete fingerprinting with TUSD Human Resources (school must pay for fingerprinting). a. Fingerprinting exception: If applicant is a parent of a currently enrolled student at the school, fingerprinting is not required.

Important news about 6th and 7th grade students
Have your children been talking to you about Safford's requirements to be promoted to the next grade level?
All 6th and 7th grade students must pass both ELA and Mathematics to be promoted to the next grade. If your child is falling behind in one of these academic areas it is not too late for them to catch up. Please talk to your child about their grades and check ParentVue to see how they are doing.
AASA Make up Testing
Parents, has your child missed school lately? It is critical that they take all of the AASA tests. The week of April 22- April 26 we will be doing make up testing. Please ensure your child comes to school every day next week. Ask your child if they took the Writing ELA 1, ELA 2, Math 1, and Math 2 AASA tests!

Husky Cheer!
2024- 2025 Husky Cheer Tryouts are for students in grades 5 through 7.
Practice days are May 7, May 8
Tryout Day is May 9
Time: 4:15-5:30
Where: Auditorium
Annoucement day: May 10
Requirements: Solid white t-shirt or tank top, black or blue shorts, athletic shoes, hair off shoulders, any cheer bow, and a water bottle.
Summer School News
This year summer school is by invite only. Please keep your eye out for an invite from your child's teacher. Teachers are identifying their students that will need to attend summer school and communication from them will be sent home soon. Welcome New Staff
We are so excited to welcome four new staff members to Safford K-8.
We have Ms. Isabella Ricks teaching 4th grade.
We have Ms. Courtney Morris teaching 5th grade.
We have Ms. Mary Torres as our new receptionist.
We have Mr. Nick as our new Teacher's Assistant.
8th Grade Promotion Celebration Criteria
Below you will find the criteria for your 8th grade child to be a part of our Promotion Celebration as they move on to High School
- Your child must have passing final grades in ELA and Math
- Your child must have a passing grade in either Humanities or Science
- Your child must have a passing grade in at least one other class (if they only pass Humanities or Science)
How to Finish the School Year Strong!
According the Kumon, there are five ways to finish the year strong.

4-5pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri. Elementary students 3-4pm and 4-5pm. no after school program Wednesdays
Reminder:
If your child is not signed up for the 21st Century program, they will not be allowed to stay on campus past 4pm and Elementary students must be picked up by 3pm. Students NOT signed up for the program will not be allowed to participate in any of the 21st Century clubs.
Support School Activities
Did you know Arizona allows you to direct your state income tax to your students' school? The Arizona Tax Credit provides funds for extracurricular programs, enhancing your child's experiences at Safford. Individuals can contribute up to $400 each to support the students at Safford. Encourage friends and family to support your school as well!

PTO NEEDS YOU
Safford k-8 Community School has an active PTO which is also a registered charity. Your on going support, whether this be getting involved or just turning up and spending money at organized events. it ALL helps! We hold informal, monthly meeting in our parent room to discuss events, fund raising opportunities, and where to spend our money. We encourage you to join us on campus to support your students!
If you are not a custodial parent/guardian, click here to apply through the TUSD website to become a volunteer. If you need help with the application process, please reach out to us and we will help set you up.
There are many ways to help out on campus, including playground monitors, reading to students, supporting a club/sports. Become a Huskie Helper today!
