Principal's Message
Dear God
Thank you for the precious gifts of our children.
Thank you for all the good gifts that come from You.
Help them to grow in the compassion, mercy and wisdom
that Jesus teaches us,
in order to be happy, joyful people. Amen
Making Jesus Real (MJR)
Our MJR Assembly today centered around the small, yet profoundly significant aspects of life. From birth, we develop our own personalities, character traits, strengths, and weaknesses.
The Gospel stories encourage us to embody Christian ideals such as determination, compassion, tolerance, kindness, gentleness, concern for others, generosity, patience, understanding, and joy.
Letβs reflect on the people around us who exemplify these qualities. How can we incorporate these virtues into our own lives? And how do we demonstrate love for those who may not always treat us kindly, as Jesus taught?"
"Be humble, be comforted,
be meek, be just, be merciful,
be pure-hearted, be peacemakers,
be courageous."
(MJR, adapted from Matthew 5:1-12)

CEWA Child Safe Framework
Have you heard of the CEWA Child Safe Framework?
The Framework is based upon the following key concepts:
Extended guardianship: When our leaders, staff and wider school community share a collective responsibility to actively support an environment that is engaging, supportive and safe. At a basic level this involves talking about behaviours that donβt contribute to engaging supportive and safe environments.
Situational prevention: Evaluating various elements within our schools β including physical and online environments, staffing, governance, behaviours and culture with an aim to eliminate or mitigate situations that present risk for children and young people.
We will need to be informed about risks to students as well as ways to promote healthy behaviour.
Healthy and respectful relationships: Pope Francis says in AMORIS LΓTITIA, as an essential requirement of love, βevery human being is bound to live agreeably with those around himβ. Modelling healthy and respectful relationships creates an engaging, safe and supportive environment. It also equips children and young people with the understanding of how they should be treated.
Wishing you a lovely weekend!

Religious Education Assessment (REA)
This week our Year 3 and Year 5 students completed the Religious Education Assessment.
The REA measures student learning of the mandated content in the Religious Education Curriculum. Test items relevant to each participating year level are developed by the Religious Education Directorate at the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia. The test items consist of multiple choice, short and extended response.
As a system-wide assessment, the REA informs teaching and assessment practices in Religious Education by providing classroom teachers, school and system leaders with a βpoint in timeβ snapshot of student achievement. Over time, the REA also provides information about student progress in Religious Education.

Our students will take part in a Festival of Friendship on Thursday 8 August on the Feast of St Mary of the Cross (MacKillop). Students are invited to wear their sports uniform with their coloured faction shirt. We can't wait for this day of fun filled activities, friendship and reflection.
