Dollars For DES PTO Fundraiser
Our PTO Fundraiser Dollars For DES will end September 11th. If you want to donate, please do so soon before time runs out. The PTO does a lot for our students and staff at DES. All the proceeds will go toward transportation for class field trips, school events, Rocket Math T-shirts, Kona Ice Day, Teacher and Admin allowances , and much more. The top fundraiser from each grade level will be able to choose to be one of the three: Principal for the day, School Resource Officer for the day, or Librarian for the day. If we hit our school wide goal, the PTO will put on an epic Bluey party for the whole school. How fun would that be!!!! If you are able to help out, please do. Any donation no matter how large or small is truly appreciated!

Book Vending Machine
Last Spring the PTO purchased a very cool Book Vending Machine for our school. When students are caught being positive role models, being helpful or kind to others, or working really hard they have the opportunity to earn a special gold coin for the vending machine. A few staff members each week are given a coin to pass out to any student in the school. On Friday afternoon, all our winners are taken to the vending machine and get to pick a book of their choice to keep. It has been a lot of fun seeing those big smiles on the students as they come into the office with their gold coin.
School pictures will be taken on September 19th. Bring on that smile!
College Go Week
College Go Week will be celebrated the week of Monday, September 23rd. Each day that week will be a special dress up day. They are as follows:
Monday - "Can't Hide our College Pride!" Wear Your Favorite College Gear
Tuesday - "Dream Big, Then Get Up and Reach for Your Goals!" Wear Your Pajamas to School
Wednesday - "Reading Builds Character!" Dress as Your Favorite Book Character
Thursday - "Oh The Places You Will Go!" Dress for the job you want to have when you grow up.
Friday - "Kougar Pride" Show your School Spirit by Wearing Red or Kougar-Wear.
NWEA
NWEA family reports will be sent home on Friday, September 6th. NWEA is an assessment tool used to measure achievement and growth in math, reading, and language. It is given three times throughout the year so we can progress monitor how our students are doing and provide appropriate interventions to help build their skills. If you have any questions about the report, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.
If you click on the above link it will take you to the Indiana Academic Standards. Click on the subject and then your child's grade level to see the standards your child will be working on this school year.
