Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for all of the donations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive for Bountiful Harvest! Hornung raised $1,128.66 and collected 431 pounds of food!
Our Holiday Hornung hut was today and will be continuing Monday, December 9! This is a school store that runs during the kids lunches where they can purchase small toys, school supplies, and other items that cost between $0.25-5.00. Volunteers are needed to help make Hornung Hut a success. Sign up on the link below if you would like to help on Monday.

December 12 will be our next school Rollerama event, this time with a Holiday pajamas theme! More details to come.
Join us for Santa Visits for Elouise at Rustic Marine Farm from 12-3pm on Sunday, December 15. Elouise is a Hornung first grader who was recently diagnosed with childhood leukemia. This event was created to help support Elouise and her family as they navigate through her diagnosis and treatment. Come out to Rustic Marine Farm, visit with Santa, mingle with Suzie and some of your favorite teachers and enjoy some hot chocolate and baked goods. All proceeds will go directly to Elouise and her family.
To help support this event, we are collecting individually wrapped baked goods and cocoa to be dropped off at Hornung on Friday 12/13. Please see the link below for more information and to sign up!

There is a helpful feature in Parent Connect that allows you to enter your student’s absence. Simply log into parent connect and click on the link Report Absence. The Report Absence link will open a screen for you to complete. If you have more than one student check the name of the student for whom an absence is being submitted. Add the applicable dates. If you check the All Day flag attendance will be submitted for the am and pm periods. If you do not check the All Day flag times must be entered and attendance will be submitted for whichever periods meet during the time range (based on period schedule). If you use Parent Connect to report your child's absence you do not need to call the attendance line.
Friendly Reminder - Therapy Dog
We wanted to share a friendly reminder to our families about pets on school grounds. Because our school has a therapy dog, we ask that non-service animals be kept at home. This is for the safety of our therapy dog, Suzie. When Suzie is at school she is trained to do a job. When other dogs are on the property during school hours it is distracting for her and/or could put her in potential danger.
