April 2023 Newsletter
Message from the Principal
Dear OLA Families,
As we enter the last 9 weeks of 2022-23, we have that energy we get from a nice long week of the Spring Break. The OLA team is ready for Term 4! It will be important that students maintain their momentum so that the end of year learning is as strong as can be. Each student is looking at important transitions next year. Be it a new grade level or a new school like middle or high school or even a post-high school job or college, the transitions can be a challenge. They can be exciting and stressful at the same time. The team is here to support all OLA students as they anticipate 2023-24.
Here are a few ways to finish the year strong:
Learning Coaches: Check in with your students and submit your weekly Check-In form here every Friday.
Learning Coaches: If you have concerns about your student’s progress, let the teachers know. You can track your students progress by logging into your account on Buzz to see exactly how much time they have spent online.
Students: Take full advantage of Office Hours for 1:1 support and tutoring from teachers.
Students: Plan on spending 30 hours per week on school.
HS Students: Be on the look out for HS OLA COMPLETION OPTIONS at night, on Saturdays and in June as well as in OMG with Ms. Redrejo.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions, ideas or concerns.

OLA Closure - Message from Transition Coordinator re: Family Information Night
Hello OLA Students and Families.
I have been able to talk with some of you and work on solutions together regarding your student’s school options for 2023-24. But I would like the opportunity to work and talk with more of you.
In order to support more of you, I am planning an all family and student meeting/information session on Monday, April 17th at 5:30 PM. This will be a live stream event. We will be exploring available options, how to assess how they fit student needs. We will talk about how to access those options, once you find one(s) that seem like a good fit.
We have posted the link to the livestream event on the OLA website at OLA.pps.net.
I am always available if you want to call, drop into office hours, or make an online appointment. There are links to those on the OLA website as well.
I look forward to working with you and your students to find the best possible option for next year.
Best,
Suzanne

Highschool:
Progress Towards Graduation The district will be sending out letters to all families in the coming weeks that will provide information on your student's on-track status and progress towards graduation. I strongly encourage families and students to set up a meeting with me so we can talk through the letter and come up with a plan for moving forward as needed. For juniors, this would also be a great time to meet with me to discuss any post-secondary plans. :) Here is a link to my appointment calendar: https://calendar.app.google/WsZHJsFo4vR95Q919 I will have extended evening hours on Wednesday, April 19th and Thursday, April 20th. If you would like to check on your student's status on your own, ParentVue is an excellent resource. To review your student's status, go to Parentvue, and click on "Course History". You can toggle the "Detail" button and more information will be provided. You can also click on "Unofficial Transcript" and after about a minute, click again. The transcript will pop up. Note: Parentvue does not show classes that are in progress. This may skew things a little. Reach out to me for more information or if you have any questions.
------------------ Seniors: You should be receiving emails from your neighborhood school that includes very important information about ordering your diploma, cap and gown details, and lots of details around other senior-related events and news. PLEASE take some time to check in with your neighborhood school to ensure you don't miss any important deadlines. If you're not sure who to reach out to, here's a list of contacts from each school: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vTmWlu2lqw5hWg2oBKYtLcMMz3NFfVsBNLQUUczSh3migU_p9Cvg5v6YlJ3SvfeGHOw12NS3QPhFLVt/pub?start=false&loop=false&delayms=3000 ---------------------
