Justin Zunino, STHS Principal
HELLO, VIKINGS!
We have great news to share! Our two-year collaboration with the amazing math teachers at STMS and STHS has yielded significant results. As featured in this week's South Tahoe Now, the impressive gains in mathematics achievement we've seen are a testament to their hard work and innovative spirit. Their deep ownership of student success and unwavering belief in our students' abilities are truly commendable. We're thrilled to build on this momentum in the coming three years!
See the athletic schedule below for updated regional games and events! Also, check out the STUDENT JOB FAIR next Wednesday, 6:45, at Boys and Girls Club. Thank you, Learning Haven, for coordinating this important event! Then on Friday of next week, be sure to stop by DISCOVERY NIGHT, 5:30 - 8:00, at STMS hosted by the STHS Science Department in collaboration with LTCC Faculty. Science Rocks!
Nominations for School Site Council (SSC) are OPEN!
It's that time of year again! Please click on this NOMINATION LINK to nominate one or more candidates for parent representation on the STHS School Site Council. Thank you for considering!
The SSC is composed of teachers, support staff, parents, students, and school administration. The SSC works with the school principal to plan for the needs of the school. A major duty of the SSC is to develop and update the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), a formal plan for the school that satisfies both state and federal program requirements. The SPSA is a critical component of the school’s plan to improve student achievement. SSC is also a great way to stay up to date on happenings at STHS! For more information regarding specific elements and responsibilities of SSC, please click here: https://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/co/ssc.asp At this time our SSC is in need of 1 parent member. No prior experience is required.
Following nominations, I will send another survey for parent members to vote on candidates. This survey is only open to parents at STHS and will close on Friday, 5/16, at 5:00pm. Thank you for considering!
Proud to be a VIKE!

Recap of Staff Appreciation
Chromebook Safety Concern
We've become aware of a very worrying trend circulating on TikTok that encourages students to insert items like pencil lead, staples, and metal into the charging ports of their Chromebooks, with the goal of making them spark and smoke. We want to emphasize in the strongest possible terms that intentionally causing sparks or smoke with an electronic device like a Chromebook creates a significant and very real risk of fire. This kind of action could not only damage the device beyond repair but could also lead to a dangerous situation with the potential for serious harm. We urge you to have an important conversation with your children about the extreme dangers of this trend and the vital importance of using their electronic devices safely and responsibly. (Please note - families are liable for repairs or replacement of chromebooks if the child's actions are intentional to damage or destroy their assigned chromebook.)

2025 Grad Night Volunteering (Click HERE!)
It's that time of year again to sign up for Grad Night, whether to decorate, work the night of, or both. We have tried many different ways to entice our school community to get involved in this amazing celebration for our graduating seniors each year.
But don't listen to us; here are just a few comments from those who have helped in the past.
Nikki Mills
I was new to Tahoe, and volunteering for the Grad Night is one of the best things I did - I was able to get involved in a truly unique and incredible event. I highly recommend volunteering to decorate the week before and on the event night. It’s so much fun, and it will make you grateful to everyone who steps up when it’s your kid’s senior year. It’s also fun having the inside scoop on just how amazing their party is going to be!
Dooley Riva
I had the pleasure of working the outdoor games last year, and I’m not sure who had more fun, the kids or the volunteers. Super enjoyable, was over before you knew it!
Lisa Collin
I’ve worked the grad night blackjack pit for the past two years, and both times have left excited about the night. It’s a joy to get a glimpse into their excitement and celebration.
Megan Brand
Joining the decorating crew is super easy and rewarding! The crew truly transforms the Cal Base Lodge into a whole new, fun, and engaging atmosphere. You can volunteer from start to finish or just show up when you have some spare time. Any amount helps to transform the event into a night the students won’t soon forget.
Dan Walsh
I had a blast helping out at senior grad night! I think we had as much fun as them! It was cool to see them enjoying the outdoor games! I’m looking forward to helping out next year after my son graduates this year! It’s a fun night!
Thank you in advance,
The Grad NIght Team
