January Students of the Month - Industrial Arts
Trina is a talented and committed student, day in and day out. Her positive attitude, and willingness to learn, has helped her build valuable knowledge. Trina listens well and is an asset to our Industrial Technology programs. She strives to do her best and works well with her peers. Trina’s positive attributes have led to high quality projects in Woodshop class.
Matt Carlson, (aka Matty Ice), is our Louis Praznic CTE Center male student of the month. Matt is a senior and has been enrolled in many of our CTE offerings while attending WHS. Matt is a jack of all trades in the CTE wing and his greatest strength is Autos. Matt is always willing to lend a hand and is always ready to work no matter what the project. Matt is constantly courteous and displays a go getter positive attitude and work ethic that will make him an asset to any company.
Senior Table Talk
Students in Mrs Marana's Freshmen GI class spent some time with representatives from the senior class this week. The freshman created a list of questions concerning anything in high school (classes, extracurricular activities, conflicts, dealing with tough situations, college/trades) earlier in the week and then used those questions to guide their talks. Thank you seniors for taking the time to meet with this group! Hopefully they learned something that will help them successfully navigate the next several years of high school!
HOSA STUDENTS IN ACTION
SAT/PSAT Practice Testing
In preparation for the state mandated SAT/PSAT testing this spring, we will be administering practice tests to all students in grades 9-11. The purpose of the practice test is to familiarize our students with the digital platform used to take the test, get them used to working under the same time constraints as the official test, and exposed them to the types of questions they will see when they take the test in the spring. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, February 11th - 9th grade PSAT 9
Thursday, February 13th - 11th grade SAT
Friday, February 14th - 10th grade PSAT 10
Testing will begin first hour and will be concluded by the start of 4th hour. A list of room assignments will be posted this week. Classroom assignemtns will be posted prior to testing.
Count Day - Wednesday, February 12
Attention Students
WHS Students: Please do your best to attend school on count day. Attendance on count day helps determine funding for our school and ensures we have access to the resources we need to maintain the high quality education we offer at Westwood High School. Please do your best to be in school on Wednesday, February 12th.
POA Students: You are expected to complete an assignment in each online course on Wednesday, February 12th. If you're a traditional face to face student (at WHS), you'll need to report to the media center during that scheduled period and sign in with me. Failure to complete an assignment on that day will result in a temporary suspension of the course until we can meet with you and your parents to discuss a plan moving forward.
Early Release Day - Friday, February 14th
Student will be released at 11:55 am on Friday, February 14th.
