Chester Ronning School
March 2025

Principal's Message
Hello again, Chester Ronning School Community.
Personally, March is one of my favourite months of the year - it's starting to warm up outside, there's a lot more sunlight, and the promise of springtime is beginning to feel real after a long winter! The March 24-28 Spring Break is only a week away, which I'm sure is another highlight of this month for students and staff.
Over the past several weeks, a focus on kindness was extra evident throughout our school. Our February morning announcements included "Kindness Missions" that encouraged staff and students to take action to recognize and demonstrate appreciation for others, so hopefully some of those challenges were evident at home! At our February 26 assembly, our Gr. 2 and 3 classes taught us about Pink Shirt Day and how we can help ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging in our school community. As well, throughout February and March our announcements included messages about the Circle of Courage trait of Independence, which ties into the traditional teachings of Courage, Truth and Wisdom, which include themes such as:
- Doing the right thing, even when it's hard.
- Letting your conscious guide you.
- Practicing sound judgement.
As a staff, we are so grateful to have a school full of wonderful, kind students, and we feel privileged to be part of your family team in supporting and guiding them when they find it hard to show kindness or demonstrate independence!
As a final note, I hope that all of our families received an invitation to sign-up for the second round of Parent Teacher Interviews, which are taking place next week, on March 19 and 20. Our teachers are looking forward to conversations about each students' learning during the past few months. If you haven't already, you can still sign yourself up for an interview until March 18 or contact your child's teacher if you need support or if you require a different time to meet about your child's achievement meet with your child's homeroom teacher. We hope you will be able to attend and we look forward to seeing you there!
Yours in Education, As Always,
Reid Lansing,
CRS Principal

Our Real-Time Reporting system allows you to stay connected to your child’s learning progress throughout the year, providing insights into their achievements and areas for growth. By regularly checking PowerSchool, you can support your child’s learning journey and celebrate their progress together. Thank you for partnering with us to foster a positive and collaborative learning experience.

Kindergarten Eye See…Eye Learn™ Program and Parent Brochure
As 80% of children’s learning is visual, it is essential to emphasize the importance of scheduling an eye examination for all school aged children, and especially for kindergarten students as they begin their in-school learning years.
Early detection and intervention can significantly impact a child's educational journey. Alberta Health coverage is available for child’s eye exams up to age 19.
