Assistant Principal News
Hello LMS Families,
We have a busy week/month coming up here at LMS and the expectation for our students will remain very high. This week we have scheduled our quarterly class meetings where we discuss everything from classroom behaviors to expectations in the cafeteria to our first Zero Referral Club celebration this school year. It is a time when we are able to speak to the whole student body and address some concerns we are seeing, but to also applaud the majority of our students who do exactly what they are asked to do every day. We are very fortunate to have such a positive environment here at LMS.
The Zero Referral Club is Friday, November 8th and will be held at the Multipurpose Building. Each class will attend for a little less than an hour where we will have multiple different activities set up for the students to have a blast with their friends. Teachers will be down there with the students celebrating their awesome start to the year. The only students who will be able to attend are the students who have not received a discipline referral yet this year. The students who have received a referral will stay back at LMS and be in a classroom with a staff member who stays back. Our hope with creating this club is to motivate students to make good decisions daily so they can attend the next time we do this in a few months. Last year we had great feedback and we don't expect that to change.
Please continue to have tough conversations with your students. Middle school is a tough time for our youth, but together we can get them through this and help raise them to become amazing young men and young women. Do not hesitate to reach out as we are here to help! Thank you and I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Counselor's Corner
As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of technology in our lives, we wanted to take a moment to connect with you and share some important information. Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, but it's crucial to find a healthy balance. We understand that managing tech habits can be a challenging task, but we're here to support you.
To help foster a more connected home environment, below is a list of healthy tech habits to consider:
- Make a habit of putting devices away at a set time. Try keeping them in a central charging spot.
- Rediscover hobbies and spend time without your phone.
- Establish screen-free family rituals like game night or tech-free family dinner.
- Have screen-free mornings. Consider having your child use an old-fashioned alarm clock to wake them up instead of their phone.
- Keep screens to shared spaces only. For example, avoid allowing your child to have screen time in their room with the door closed.
- Look at ways to use technology as a tool and engage in open dialogue about technology with your family.
By implementing these strategies, you can help create a more connected and harmonious household.
Here is an informative graphic you can share with your child- or even post on the refrigerator at home as a reminder:
