Campus Message
Dear Early Childhood Parents,
Due to a couple of factors beyond our control, Moore MIddle School will need to move the Winter Wonderland event to the spring. A new date will be announced soon, and we appreciate your patience as we finalize the details.
If you have already purchased a ticket, it will automatically transfer to the rescheduled event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding.
The middle school students are excited to help host this special event for your children, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
In the meantime, our staff has pulled together to offer a Family Polar Express Night on Thursday, December 12th @ 5:00pm. We welcome all families to come play games, decorate ornaments and make hot cocoa. Put us on your calendar!

Treat our Staff with Sweet Treats! PTA is asking parents to sign up to send in treats for teachers on Dec 18th. Click the link below and sign up to provide goodness for our hard-working staff!

Are you interested in attending your child's holiday classroom party on December 19th? Due to the limiting size of the classrooms, we are requesting only one visitor per child, with a maximum of two visitors.
If you would like to attend and skip the check-in line, compete this form to receive a FAST PASS and avoid the long lines to enter the school. If you do not complete the form and RSVP, you will need to bring a valid ID and check in through the front office. HERE is the link to complete!
Sincerely,
Glenda Dophied - Principal

Welcome Bobcat Families!
Happy Friday Bobcat Parents! Are you feeling a little holiday spirit? Or are you feeling maybe a little stressed out?
At our parent meeting this past Tuesday, we discussed ways to still find JOY during this time of year despite the physical, emotional, not to mention financial strain we often encounter during the final days of our calendar year. This is a perfect time to enjoy simple(and cheap!) activities with our children who easily find joy during this time of year. Some ideas mentioned were: sharing great holiday read alouds, doing a family holiday lights scavenger hunt, sharing holiday memories, and doing small acts of kindness for others. Remember our children model what they see and treasure the gift of our time most of all.
What is a scavenger light hunt? Here is a link to one example and you will find several fun ones on Pinterest. Sample Holiday Lights Scavenger Hunt Also here is a list of my favorite read alouds for PreK during December: Holiday Read Alouds for PreK. Finally, the best way to experience JOY is by giving JOY to others. Have a great weekend. Here are my book suggestions for this weekend:
Documentation after an Absence (All Grade Levels)
Parent/Guardian Responsibility:
- Provide an Explanation: Upon their child's return to school, parents/guardians must provide a written explanation for ANY absence.
- Signed Note: The student must submit a note signed by the parent/guardian.
Absence Excused or Unexcused:
- Campus Administration Discretion: Based on the provided documentation, campus administration will determine if an absence is excused or unexcused.
- State of Texas Excused Absences: Please refer to the state-approved list of excused absences for specific guidelines.
Important Note:
It is crucial to understand that excessive absences, whether excused or unexcused, can negatively impact a student's academic progress and overall school experience. Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to limit absences to only the most necessary reasons.
Update on Absences per Texas guidelines:
Absences will not be excused, even with a parent note. (going with band to state, going to Disney, etc)
In Texas, absences are considered excused if they fall under the following categories:
Documented healthcare appointments: A student can receive credit for the entire school day if they attend a healthcare appointment and provide documentation.
Religious holy days: Absences for religious holy days are excused.
Court appearances: Required court appearances are excused.
Higher education visits: Juniors and seniors can have two excused absences per year for higher education visits.
Driver's license or student learner's license appointments: Students can have one excused absence for each of these appointments.
Serious or life-threatening illness: Absences for serious or life-threatening illnesses that meet specific state requirements are excused.
Military dependent child visiting a parent: Absences for military dependent children visiting a parent before, during, or after deployment are excused.
UIL school-sponsored events: Participation in UIL school-sponsored events is excused.
Stock shows: Absences for stock shows with a note from an Extension agent are excused.
Enlisting in the military: Absences for 17-year-olds trying to enlist in the military are excused.
Playing TAPS at a Texas Military Funeral: Absences for 6th–12th graders playing TAPS at a Texas Military Funeral are excused.
