From our MYP Coordinators
8th graders in Lisa Maggio’s Quarter 4 classes have begun a deep investigation into their first WOW projects, where they plan, design, and create a major artwork of their choice, based on a theme. This project is creative thinking, one of our Approaches to Learning skills, at its best! All 8th grade art students have started their planning boards. They will work from these to create their final projects. Below, check out a sample of a fantastic planning board from a previous quarter, as well as a final product. All artworks from all grade levels are accompanied by artist statements in which students reflect on their artistic process. Ask an 8th grader in art what they plan to focus on for their WOW project. Thanks to Ms. Maggio for inviting her students to create and reflect on their creative process.
Pam Quinn and Eileen Sears, MYP Coordinators
*****Families of 8th Grade Students****
For families of 8th graders- The permission slip and behavioral letter for the class trip to Boston on May 17th is being sent home today with students. Permission slips are due back to the front office no later than Friday May 3rd. Please make sure to read through the both documents as it includes important information including the itinerary for the day as well as a space to indicate if you are interested in chaperoning the field trip (must be an approved volunteer for the school district). If you have any questions or concerns about the trip please direct them to Dustin Hunt via email dhunt@acsdvt.org or call 802-382-1213.
Parking During Sporting Events
We ask that caregivers/spectators use the MUMS parking lot while attending MUMS events to the greatest extent possible. Parking on Middle Road can cause congestion.
8th grade grift fundraiser huge success!
The 8th grade fundraiser at Notte, featuring the Grift's Jukebox Jubilee was a huge success! Special thanks goes out to our 8th grade fundraising committee (Adrienne MacIntyre, Pearl Riney, Victoria Jette & Martha Alexander) Clint Bierman from the Grift, Holmes Jacobs and Megan Brady for hosting the event at Notte and Town Hall Theater for allowing us to sell tickets through them!
This event would not have been possible with the support of our community, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Volunteering In Our Schools!
Parents and caregivers: If you’re interested in volunteering for end-of-year activities and field trips, now is the time to register to volunteer! It takes a few weeks for background checks, so please start the process now with this volunteer form to ensure you’re approved. If you think you might already be registered, contact the administrative assistant at your school or email thuestis@acsdvt.org to double check. Once you are approved, you will be emailed at the beginning of each school year to remain an active volunteer.
Student Absences
As Spring Break and the end of the school year approach and families are preparing to go on vacations this is a reminder for you to contact the Superintendent, in writing, if your child will be out for an extended period of time (5 days or more). Once the Superintendent receives your letter/email s/he will send a confirmation letter back to the parents/guardians acknowledging that they have received the request and a copy will be shared with the office Staff at MUMS. Once we receive this email/confirmation a homework request form will be generated. For students missing 4 or less days parents/guardians should call our attendance line, as they would for any other reason, and leave a message (802-382-1297).
