Bourne High School Summer Update
Hello BHS Students and Families!
Hope you are enjoying the summer break! Here at the high school, we have been working hard to get the building ready for a new school year, hire new staff members to join the BHS team, and finalize many details for the 24- 25 school year. We cannot wait to have you in the building to kick off an awesome year.
I'd like to welcome the newest Canalmen to BHS- the Class of 2028! We can't wait to have you join the BHS family. If anyone has concerns or questions leading up to the start of school, Mr. Dineen and I are available for an in-person meeting or phone call- please reach out if you need anything by calling the school at 508.759.0670, or emailing to Ndineen@bourneps.org and lmaguire@bourneps.org. We are happy to help with the transition to school in any way we can!
One update I'd like to share to you is a change in the daily block rotation. This year, Blocks A-D will rotate in the morning and Blocks E-F will rotate in the afternoon, which will allow for some flexibility in programming and help some students, like senior interns, get out into the community for their work experience. The rotation is available here for your review before school starts. Student schedules and Power School will be open by the end of next week for more detailed student information.
One additional noteworthy change is to the tardy policy. The start of our school day is 7:40 a.m. and all students must be in first block by 7:40 in order to practice/play in athletics and/or participate in extracurriculars. The change to our policy is that there is no longer a grace period for tardies, as it causes confusion and sends mixed messages. Our day starts at 7:40 and we want that to be clear. Only tardies due to extenuating circumstances may be excused with a note (such as the doctor or dentist in the morning). Every minute counts in school and we need you here on time and every day!
We cannot wait to see you and look forward to the start of the new school year! We hope this is a great year and we are ready to work closely with students, caregivers, and community members to make this your best year yet!
Have a fun and safe end of the summer. See you soon!
Yours in education,
Dr. Maguire

Summer Reading Reminders
Don't forget about summer reading! We've designed a program that will keep you reading and give you the choice about what to read and for what course you'll earn credit! Clickable Links for info below are available here.
Additional summer work is posted to the high school website, particularly for AP courses.
Yearbook
Being a senior (can you believe it?) comes with some time-sensitive action on your part. Specifically with the YEARBOOK.
We have sent you an invitation (via email) to join the 2025 Yearbook. This is where we will provide important information regarding what we need from seniors as well as where you will submit your senior bios.
SENIORS can also click <HERE> to join the Google Classroom as well.
IMPORTANT 2024-2025 DATES:
NOVEMBER 1st: The SENIOR BIO template has already been posted. Please complete and submit by November 1st. Of course, it is better to get it in as early as possible.
FEBRUARY 1st: Senior portraits and candids (fun pics with friends or baby pictures) are due by February 1st. Please submit those to our email account for the yearbook: bournehsyearbool@gmail.com. Make sure you put your NAME in the SUBJECT LINE.
