Wilson District Newsletter
November 2024
A message from Mr. Rose
As we approach the season of gratitude, I find myself reflecting on the many blessings that fill my life. This November, I am especially thankful for my family, the good health that sustains us, and the caring adults who make a difference daily in the lives of our students here at Wilson Elementary School District. It is because of these dedicated individuals and our strong sense of community that we continue to grow and make progress together.
This month, I want to update you on some important news from the Arizona Department of Education. They have recently released the letter grades for the 2024-2025 school year, and I want to share that Wilson has received a "C" grade. While we acknowledge this as an area for improvement, let me be clear—there is nothing average about the wonderful things happening on our school campuses. We are a district with an unbreakable spirit, continually striving for excellence and aiming for that coveted "A." I invite you to join us on this journey we are calling "Destination A." With collaborative efforts, persistence, and a clear goal, we will get there together.
Every day, I witness the dedication and hard work that our teachers and staff pour into helping our students succeed. One person who exemplifies this commitment is Mrs. Catherine Gabriel, a truly outstanding member of our team. For over five years, Mrs. Gabriel has been a devoted Pre-K teacher, nurturing the youngest members of our school community. But her impact doesn’t stop at the classroom door. She volunteers tirelessly at almost every event we hold, whether after school or on weekends, showing up for our students and families in countless ways.
Mrs. Gabriel’s love for our children shines through in her interactions with them. She constantly seeks to inspire and motivate, making use of every teachable moment. Her dedication goes beyond her role as a teacher—she is a positive role model, embodying the caring spirit that makes Wilson such a special place to learn and grow.
As we continue on this journey, I want to thank each of you—parents, staff, and community members—for being part of our “Destination A” roadmap. I am deeply grateful for the support and teamwork that keeps us moving forward. With each step, we build a stronger district, one that fosters learning, growth, and resilience.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Together, with gratitude and determination, we will reach our destination.
Wilson Primary School
November is the month of giving thanks. I am truly grateful for the amount of support and participation we have received from our community and families. We had our annual Costume Parade and the Dance Party. Students loved marching around the block while families cheered and waved their hands. We were blown away by the number of families that came to the parade!
We also celebrated Dias de los Muertos on November 1st. This year, after we enjoyed viewing the beautiful ofrendas at the Primary, we had a candlelight procession to the Elementary School. What a beautiful sight it was. There were so many people lined up walking in unison to celebrate our loved ones. We also enjoyed viewing the ofrendas made by the 5th and 6th graders. Thank you for those that helped making that came out for the event. I want to also thank the staff that came out to share this experience with the families. So thankful that so many of our new staff stayed after a long day to get to know more about our community!
As weather cools, please remind your child to wear their sweatshirts but not to forget them on the playground. If your child missing a sweatshirt, please stop by the front office.
As always, we are welcoming new families. Please let your friends and family know to check out our website and look for the Online Registration!
Have a thankful month!

We have entered the season of giving thanks! This season is filled with many exciting events and activities! We had our monthly parent meeting last week and WOW! What a great turn out we had. So many of our Wilson parents attended to voice their thoughts, ideas, and concerns to us. We are so grateful for our parents for taking the time from their busy schedule to attend the meetings. Our next meeting will be November 20th from 1:00 in the Library. The partnerships that we create with our parents make such an impact with our student achievement. When students see that parents care about their education and school, they take pride in their learning!
Last week, we celebrated all the students who received awards for quarter 1. Students who gave it all during the first quarter were honored in front of their peers and parents. It was so great to see students cheering and applauding for their classmates. We had an incredible number of students who received straight As, and they were honored at the Principal’s List Luncheon. SFE, out cafeteria crew, did a fabulous job setting up the luncheon to make it special for our students. Thank you, SFE!
Please continue to visit our website for upcoming events as we have a lot planned for this quarter!
Enjoy the cool fall weather!

Gratitude is a gentle, powerful practice that helps us focus on the good, even in small moments or difficult times. Being grateful doesn’t always come naturally; it’s an intentional habit we choose to build one day at a time. Taking time to appreciate the little things—a good meal, a warm smile, feeling the wind on your face, a child's hug, a moment of laughter—can shift our perspective and enrich our lives.
Consider starting a gratitude journal, where you write down what you're thankful for each day. Or take 5 minutes in the morning to reflect on what you are grateful for concerning the previous day. When I was a teacher, each morning we had Miracle Moment. During this time, my students and I would share miracles, I heard things like- my mom hugged me, I saw my dad who I have not seen in a year, and my sibling said their first word etc... The students loved it but honestly, I loved it the most! Reflecting on the small things in life can be beneficial!
Sometimes, gratitude flows outward. You could write an appreciation note to someone who’s made a difference in your life, send a thank you gift, or do something thoughtful to make someone smile. Or perhaps you’d like to return the favor with an act of kindness, like volunteering your time, paying for someone's coffee, or lending a listening ear to someone who needs it.
Please know I am grateful for each of you! The Wilson Family has been very kind, graceful and welcoming! For this, I say I am grateful for each of you!
