🎒🏫Updates, Celebrations, and Info! 🥳🍎
Good morning MES Families!
I hope this message finds you well!
I am thrilled to share that our school now has a Bulldog Book Bin located in the elementary cafe, filled with wonderful books! Our MES students will be working hard to earn a "golden token." Teachers and staff are actively looking for students who are meeting their academic and behavioral goals. Once a student receives a token, they can use it to "purchase" a book of their choice to keep!
I am especially proud to announce our first recipient, who is one of the hardest-working students I know, Caleb Brown. He greets everyone in his path and has shown outstanding academic growth this school year. Hard work truly pays off, right, Caleb? 🥰📖

Principal for a Day
I am excited to share that our very first "Principal for a Day," was Peyton Thomas. He received this honor due to his academic dedication and his overall ability to be safe, respectful, responsible, and kind. Peyton's focus was on spreading kindness, and he proudly shared that he had eight conversations in the cafeteria about being kind. He also supervised the pick-up of our Scholastic Book Fair. Way to go, Peyton!
Facilities Task Force Meeting
Additionally, I invite you to join us for MISD's third Facilities Task Force Meeting on April 22nd. This is a great opportunity for employees, parents, community members, and individuals from Region 13 to tour campuses and district buildings while making suggestions that could impact our future. The meeting will be held at 6:30 in the elementary cafeteria. We hope you can join us!

Important Upcoming Dates /Reminders:
*Registration is open for the 2025-2026 school year!
*April 16th-17th: Kinder/Pre-K Registration! This will be held in the elementary cafeteria.
16th: 4:00-6:00 pm
17th: 5:30-7:00 pm
*April 18th and 21st: NO SCHOOL for students and staff.
*April 22nd: Facilities Task Force Meeting
*April 26th: Elementary Saturday School 8:00-12:00. If your child has received notices of excessive absences, this is an opportunity to have them excused. Students who stay from 8:00-12:00 will have two of their absences excused. Invites will be sent home in Thursday folders. If you are interested in your student attending, please email Mrs. Johnston at: caroline.johnston@mcdadeisd.net

*Reminders for morning drop off: 7:40 am is the cut-off time for car rider arrival behind the cafeteria. After 7:40, students can be brought to the front gate. Please park and walk your child to the gate. This is not only for your student's safety, but everyone else in the area. Marlin St. cannot be blocked for any reason.
Students will not be permitted entry, from the front gate, before 7:40.

🤩Happy-Grams😍
**Starting Tuesday, 4/22/25, we will be selling "Happy-Grams" in the office. For $1, students can choose Taki's, chips, or candy to send to a friend, staff member, or teacher. This is just in time for Teacher Appreciation Week, the first week of May. Happy-Grams will be delivered on Thursday, May 1st.
Proceeds will help fund appreciation gifts for teachers and staff. 🥰
I will send a reminder on Monday, before we return to school on Tuesday. Thank you so much for your continued support!**
🚗Transportation Changes, Absentee Notes, and Attendance 🤧
Mrs. Shelby and I will be making plans for an MES Saturday School. All students whose absences have fallen below the 90% attendance rule will be required to make up the time. This ensures that students in grades Kinder through 12th must attend class for 90% of the time it is offered to receive credit or a final grade.
When your student(s) are absent, please deliver or email doctor's notes/ parent notes to Mrs. Shelby at the email address below:
If you need to make a transportation change for your child(ren), please do so by 2:00 pm. Calls after 2:00 may not be accommodated.
