To account for the past week of instructional days, RPS is making a few key schedule changes:

• The end of the semester has now been pushed back to Friday, January 24. The second semester will begin on Monday, January 27.
• February 18 — previously a professional learning day — is now a full instructional day.

Congratulations to our stellar spellers! Our Schoolwide Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. After 18 grueling rounds we have a winner!

Congratulations to Elias Bennett, our Spelling Bee Champion, who will represent our school at the City-Wide Spelling Bee for all elementary and middle schools in RPS on Tuesday, February 4th at the Mary Munford Elem. Auditorium at 6 pm.

Families can apply for open enrollment for the 2025-26 school year at enrollrps.schoolmint.com.

Open Enrollment allows any Richmond City resident, including non-RPS students, to apply to out-of-zone schools. You may select up to three schools, with Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts available as a 4th option for grades K-5. The deadline to apply for open enrollment is Friday, January 31, 2025, at 4:30.

Please note that our school application process is not first-come, first-served. All applications submitted within the deadline will receive equal consideration.

IF YOU ARE OUT OF ZONE, AND HAVE A SIBLING THAT WILL ATTEND FOX NEXT SCHOOL YEAR YOU MUST FILL OUT THE OPEN ENROLMENT APPLICATION FOR THE NEW STUDENT!!

This calendar should be updated shortly to reflect the recent changes: Jan 15 is a FULL school day, the semester ends on Jan. 24, and Feb.. 18 is a FULL Instructional day.

Please read the Parent Handbook! It is full of important procedures/policies/info that is helpful for families!

A hard copy will came home with your students on the first day of school in the "First Day Packet"! Please sign and return the last page of the Handbook!

Every Fox student has HOMEWORK EVERY day. ALL students should read or be read to for 20 minutes daily! If you need some books to read at home, let your child's teacher, our school counselor, CIS worker know. We are HAPPY to have your child pick out some books to take home. Also, check out and use the "Reading Library" that is located at the front of the school.

Research shows that READING EVERY EVENING is the one thing that WILL SET YOUR CHILD UP FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

3rd, 4th, 5th grade students will have up to an additional 30 minutes of homework as well (math practice, comprehension practice, studying etc). Teachers/grade levels will communicate homework to their class.
