Message To Parents From Our Executive Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are blessed that whenever we reach out to parents for support, we know that there will be a positive response. This was demonstrated at the recent Winter Ball that took place at both St Mary’s and St Charles. I would like to extend a huge thank you to both parent groups for organising this fabulous evening and also to everyone who attended. The money raised, is needed more than ever as we rely on the additional funding to further enhance the enrichment experiences that we offer your children as well as using the money to purchase additional school essentials such as books and pencils! Well done everybody.
The recent cold and frosty weather is a reminder that the Christmas season is fast approaching and before we know it, we will be celebrating the season of Advent. There are numerous exciting events coming up and I do hope you are able to join us in this season of preparation and celebration. Please check the school newsletter for dates and information on upcoming activities.
Wishing you a very happy, warm and restful weekend.
Ms Hampton
Executive Headteacher
Religious Life Of The School
This morning 4H presented a wonderful assembly on St Cecilia, who is one of our ‘house’ saints.
In honor of her feast day today, children in St Cecelia House may wear their own clothes on Monday.
On Sunday, we will celebrate the feast of Christ The King which reminds us that the Liturgical year is coming to an end. The following Sunday, we will celebrate the first Sunday of Advent and will begin to prepare for Christmas.
School Chaplaincy
Today our School Chaplaincy Team met up with the Faith Ambassadors of St Mary’s School. They discussed the projects they are currently working on in both Schools and explored possible joint ventures for the Spring Term. One idea was to produce a join federation prayer. More to come!

and reflect on the questions below with your family.
You will have an opportunity to discuss them again next week in School during the Gospel/Well done Assembly.

KS1
- What did Pilate ask Jesus?
- Why did he ask him this?
- Where is the Kingdom of Jesus?
KS2
- What did Jesus mean when he said, “Do you ask this of your own accord, or have others told you about me?
- What did Jesus mean when he said, “I came into the world for this”?
- How do you think Pilate felt during this conversation with Jesus?
Attendance
Our whole school attendance is currently at 95.4%
We are working towards achieving 96% attendance this academic year. Please help us to achieve this by ensuring that your child attends school each day and by not booking any holiday during term time. Please be aware that holiday leave in term time cannot be authorised.
In line with the Department for Education guidelines, where pupils miss school without a good reason (including a holiday), the Local Authority and schools can intervene, and you may be issued a fine.
There is strong correlation between good attendance and good progress. So together, let’s give our children the best possible chance of reaching their potential.
School Ties
The children look lovely in their school uniform. Sadly, some children are not wearing their ties.
The St Charles school tie gives the school its unique identity and this is something we want to preserve and promote throughout the local area. Staff will be checking to ensure that all school uniform criteria is followed. Thank you for your support.
Christmas Raffle
It’s time for the Christmas raffle!
This year the proceeds from the Christmas raffle will be shared among local charities. The staff have kindly donated the prizes so we need your help to sell the raffle tickets! It would be great if each family would sell two books of tickets, £5 per book (£1 per ticket). The raffle tickets were distributed this week!
Please return your stubs and correct money to the school office by Wednesday 13th December. If you are unable to sell them, please return them to the school office. There are many prizes besides the main ones and the raffle will take place on the 16th December.
We are aware of the demands on you at this time of the year, but the less fortunate will have a better Christmas if you can help out.
Thank you in anticipation and may the Lord reward you.
Student Council
Our student council have been very busy this term. We have been meeting every week to discuss and share ideas about how to improve our school.
TT Rockstars
3/4H enjoyed practising their times tables on TTRockstars this week. They are getting speedier and speedier each day! There’s no stopping them!
Year 6 Maths
In year 6, we have been learning to multiply and divide fractions. It is quite tricky but we worked together to solve the calculations in our tarsia puzzle. We worked collaboratively and learnt from each other.
Positive Noticing Day
This week at St Charles we celebrated Positive Noticing Day. Both children and adults shared the wonderful things we notice about each other!
Afternoon Tea
Last half-term, everyone worked hard to demonstrate aspiration, one of our six values. These wonderful children were chosen by their teachers for having been aspirational over the whole half-term. They had a wonderful afternoon tea with Miss Hampton. We can't wait to see who is chosen for our next value: Resilience.
The St Charles Express
All aboard the St Charles Express! Reception love playing games at lunchtime with Mrs Troyano, Mrs Byrne and Mr Lynch. Everyone gets involved. Everyone has a turn!
Resilience and Learning Heroes
Congratulations to the following children who were recognised for making good choices during the week beginning 18th November.
