TERM 1 INTERIM REPORTS
October 4th marks the halfway point for Term 1. As you are able to monitor your child's progress on Aspen, our online grading and attendance program, we recommend you check your child's academic progress to date. On October 9th, Aspen will provide you with detailed information regarding your child's completion of assignments and attendance, as well as information on classwork, homework, quizzes, and test scores. Hopefully, this information will enable you to have meaningful conversations with your child about their progress and/or expectations.

Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
We have upped our social media game and NRMS is now on Facebook and Instagram. Please follow us on these platforms, as we work to provide you with more highlights and pictures of the events happening at school each week.
The greatest strengths of our school include our wonderfully supportive community, our amazing students, and our dedicated faculty. This week we can celebrate two of our teachers. 7th Grade Science teacher, Amy Fleischer, has been recognized by the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers as the Science Teacher of the Year for Barnstable County. This well deserved recognition is due to Ms. Fleischer's positive work with our students and her exemplary teaching of the science curriculum. Ms. Fleischer is also our subject coordinator for the science department. Congratulations to Ms. Fleischer for this recognition as science teacher of the year.
We also celebrate Susy Remillard who teaches the Earthkeepers and Changemakers courses at NRMS. Ms. Remillard was recently awarded Voya's Unsung Heroes award and grant money of $2000. You can read about this in this week's edition of the Cape Cod Chronicle.
Each year in the Health classes, our guidance counselors share important information about mental health and depression awareness and suicide prevention. We utilize the guidance of the SOS, signs of suicide, program. You can read about the program in the pdf attached below.
On October 29 and 30 we will hold Student-Teacher-Parent Conferences. We will soon share information on how you can sign up for conferences with your child's teachers. We strongly encourage students to be present at the conferences, as we strive to instill a sense of ownership for one's own learning. While we will offer the option for virtual conferences, we encourage you to be here in person, if possible. Be on the lookout for more information on how to sign up online for your conferences.
Happy October! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Peter Cohen, Ed.D.
Principal
