Springbrook Partners with MDOT to Host Permit Paper/Pen Test at the Brook
Ms. Nicole Brown, Internship Coordinator, consistently thinks of creative ways to advantage our Springbrook students. Ms. Brown connects hundreds of students each year with apprenticeships and internships. However, many students must apply for their Maryland state driver's license or take the Maryland permit driving test. To mitigate this challenge and provide opportunities for students to be eligible to drive to apprenticeships and internships, Ms. Brown has partnered with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) to provide onsite permit (pen/paper) examinations at the Brook.
- Interested Apprenticeship and Intership students and additional students should see Ms. Brown in G202 to pick up a field trip form.
- Students must be 15 and 9 months by May 20, 2024
- The opportunity is limited to the first 60 internship or apprenticeship students (first come, first served)
- Examination will take place on Wed, May 29 at 2:30 PM in TR2

Springbrook's Library Media Center Highlights the BOTW
Give Me A Sign
In recognition of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month the Book of the Week is Give Me A Sign by Anna Sortino.
Although Lilah is excited about her job as a junior counselor at Gray Wolf, a summer camp for the Deaf and Blind, she is a little nervous. She attended the camp when she was younger and loved it, but she's worried about how rusty her ASL is because she doesn't use it with her hearing parents or her hearing school friends. With her hearing aids, Lilah can somewhat pass in the hearing world, hence she doesn't feel "deaf enough" at times. Happily, she meets Isaac, a fellow counselor who patiently helps her relearn ASL, in addition to providing her with the summer romance she has been longing for. Camp Gray Wolf is just as special as Lilah remembers; it is an inclusive community whose campers and counselors include Deaf, hard of hearing, Blind, and low vision individuals as well as two counselors without a disability. It's a summer of learning for Lilah-learning ASL, to take responsibility and care for others, as well as how to embrace her Deaf identity and advocate for herself.
