Previously, TEA had elected to NOT identify readiness vs supporting on the 2026 draft assessed curriculum documents. In response to stakeholder feedback, however, they have decided to add those identifiers.

On January 27, 2025 TEA shared the following update:

The Assessed Curriculum documents that will be in effect beginning with the Spring 2026 administration were updated on Jan. 15, 2025. Based on the feedback received from the field, the readiness and supporting labels have been added to the documents. As a reminder, the readiness and supporting labels are used only to build test forms. Per state law and rule, ALL TEKS are required to be taught; these documents should NOT truncate the curriculum taught in the classrooms. [Texas Education Code Sec. 28.002; Texas Administrative Code §74.2, §74.3]

The Assessed Curriculum documents and other science STAAR materials are available on the STAAR Science Resources webpage of the TEA website.

The documents are still in draft form, and can be found using the following links:

Beginning Spring 2026

• Elementary (3–5) administered in grade 5 (Updated 1/15/2025)
• Elementary (3–5) administered in grade 5 Spanish (Updated 1/15/2025)
• Middle School (6–8) administered in grade 8 (Updated 1/15/2025)
• Biology (Updated 1/15/2025)
