January 26th, 2025
Greetings Richardson Families,
While short, last week was filled with engaging activities and memorable moments that highlighted creativity, teamwork, and community building!
Our 4th graders amazed us with their creativity as they designed inventions and presented their "pitches." It was incredibly hard for their teachers to select winners, as every student brought something special to the table.
Due to the cold weather day on Tuesday, some of our No Name-Calling Week buddy assemblies were rescheduled to next week. However, we were able to enjoy a wonderful assembly with our 2nd and 5th-grade buddies. The focus was on building community and fostering sportsmanship, as we have noticed that name-calling has sometimes occurred when students feel frustrated during games at recess, in the gym, or outside of school. We are committed to helping students build the skills they need to stay calm and kind, even when feeling frustrated.
One highlight of the assembly was a game called "Toss the Trash Talk." Teams worked together to toss crumpled pieces of paper into a trash can while staying seated on the floor. It was a great way to learn about teamwork and kindness while having a lot of fun!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our PreK classes’ Grown-Up Days next week. (Please contact your child’s PreK teacher if you have any questions about this special event). All students and staff can feel a little more 'grown-up' by wearing something dressy or fancy for our optional 'Dress-Up/Fancy Clothes Day' on Wednesday—no need to buy anything new, just have fun and express your style!
We truly value the opportunities to come together as a community, whether it’s through cross-grade activities or family events. Speaking of family events, February has some exciting opportunities to bring families into our school! Please see the information below and RSVP as soon as possible to help us with planning.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership!
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the main office, Miss Susi or me at anytime. My contact information is mhoude@isd622.org or 651-748-6910.
Warmly,

Upcoming Family Engagement Events
Monday, February 10th is National African American Parent Involvement Day. This day was designed to stress the importance of families getting involved in their child’s education and to celebrate the partnership between students, families and schools.
In honor of this day, schools in ISD622 will embed activities/events that invite all of our families into our buildings. At Richardson, we wanted to be considerate of the lack of parking, so we have decided to spread out our events over two weeks in February.
Please complete the RSVP for each event that you will attend that week by Thursday, Feb 7th. (This allows us to preprint out visitor badges - to avoid long lines for families checking in for events).
