Thrall High School News
Well, we are 1/6th of the way done with this school year! The first grading cycle is complete, and we are going strong with the expected few bumps in the road. This is a testament to our learning communities commitment to following the prescribed safety protocols. The good news is that we are moving towards being back together 100% in just a few weeks.
As I said last Spring in one of my first "DubeTube" videos, "I am not sure when we will all be back together under one roof, but I know that day will be a joyous day". It will be almost like the first day of school in many ways. Campus and classroom procedures will be modified and reviewed yet again, but we will adapt an move onward and upward!

Academic Updates & Reminders
Grades and Attendance
Our teachers have done a remarkable job balancing the various forms of instruction, all while continuing to provide grace, extensions, and opportunity to our students. We applaud our students who have taken their academics and attendance seriously. It has been a challenge for all involved. Keep up the good work Tigers!

Chad Richter Selected as Hero for Children!
Chad Richter has been engaged in activities and volunteer missions on a consistent basis at Thrall ISD. He has become a fixture for our district and when the need arises, Chad is guaranteed to be there in an immediate manner! The positive sense he gives for our administrators, faculty, students, and parents in his volunteering to assist is overwhelming, and he has had such an effect on improving our culture.
Some of Mr. Richter's volunteer projects include:
- Responding in an emergency manner using his Paramedic background:
- for teacher injuries; falling on wet spots, seizures, strokes
- for students having reactions to bee and wasp stings; athletic injuries at games (home & visiting athletes)
- Furniture moving with summer staff after a renovation was done
- Planting flower beds; planting grass for new facility
- Building softball dug-outs to enhance facility for players
- Moving debris from district site to alleviate snake problems
- Assisting as a mentor for others and doing Annual Book Fair set-ups for the community
- Workdays by parents, students, and community (district-wide projects)
- Emergency response person during athletic events; many frequencies
- Working as a Track starting clerk assistant
- Volunteering time to move classroom equipment, bookshelves, and furniture during flooding
- Mentoring students; both at school and in his church
- Building additional playground equipment for the Thrall Elementary Playground
- Played a major role training staff in Stop the Bleed as well as volunteering time to complete the Jacob Kits.
The State Board of Education established the Heroes for Children award program in 1994. The award is designed to recognize excellence in advocacy for education and to highlight the many outstanding volunteers whose efforts represent significant contributions to public school education in Texas.
Since its beginning, the award has provided a means to recognize Texas residents who render selfless acts of service by offering their time, effort, and support to public schools and students. The award honors volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to student learning or who have demonstrated sustained periods of involvement and support of public education. Each year, the 15-member Board recognizes one Hero from each of their districts. The Heroes for Children award recipients are honored at the September SBOE meeting. The ceremony is held in the William B. Travis State Office Building, Room 1-104, at 1701 North Congress Ave. in Austin.
