Have you heard about the Cal KIDS program?
The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) was launched in 2022 by the State of California with a clear mission: make it easier for more children to save for their future education.
Administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, CalKIDS takes the initiative by automatically offering newborns and eligible low-income public school children in California an initial seed deposit, along with other potential financial incentives. This ensures that they can start their college and career savings journey right from the beginning.
We have been notified that many students in our school may be eligible for these funds which can used upon enrollment at an institution of higher education. They can use CalKIDS funds to pay for tuition, fees, books, supplies and certain room and board costs. California public school students designated as low income were automatically enrolled in the program.
To access their Cal KIDS accounts, eligible students or their parents/guardians should visit www.calkids.org > Get Started > Confirm using the 2024 Eligibility Tool. Accessing an account is easy and only requires a few pieces of information, including the child’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID), which you can find in Synergy. The tab Student Info is where you can find your student’s SSID. If you have any questions, please contact Monica Taylor, mtaylor@powayusd.com.
NHS Free Tutoring
Students who need help with their classes can sign up for tutoring with NHS student volunteers on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:45 - 4:30pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch in the Titan Center (Room K-16). Walk ins are welcome but based on availability. Sign up here for a spot! Email powayhighNHS@gmail.com with questions.

FOOD AND NUTRITION INFORMATION
School breakfast and school lunch are FREE for all enrolled students, every school day. Meals must still be entered into the cafeteria computer by individual student account.
Even though meals are free, families are still highly encouraged to complete the application for free and reduced-price meal eligibility. Eligibility status is still required for meal reimbursements, and school site funding depends in part on the number of students eligible for free/reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free/reduced-price meals may qualify for other benefits, as well. The meal application is available online at MySchoolApps.com.
One-page, printer-friendly PDF menus are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage. At the top of the page, click or hover over School Menus + and then Printable PDF Menus.
