Virginia FCCLA 2024 State Leadership & Recognition Conference
FCCLA held its annual conference April 12 - 14 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Approximately 1000 members, advisers, and guests were in attendance to experience the Ultimate Journey!
Over 900 members competed in competitive events on Friday and enjoyed the expo and fun activities before and after their event. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the VATFCS table on Friday.
Friday night was the opening session, “Out of this World with FCCLA”, where chapters were recognized for their participation in National Programs and outreach projects. We met the slate of officer candidates for the 1st time. We closed out the evening with keynote speaker, Terrence Talley.
Saturday morning was the business session, “Lost in Space”. This was the time for VA FCCLA to conduct their annual business meeting and hear the officer candidate's speeches. Voting Delegates then placed their votes.
Members hurried off to “Explore the Red Planet” and attended action-packed sessions that were sure to aid them in navigating their journey.
Chapters had the opportunity to explore VA Beach for a few hours before preparing for the “Starstruck” Awards Banquet and “Galactic Gala”. A nice meal, some great entertainment, and some awesome adults received recognition for their outstanding accomplishments with FCCLA this school year. The newly elected state officers were announced, and members danced the night away.
Sunday morning, “The Final Frontier” brought us to the final step in our weekend journey. The new student leaders were installed and members received their medals and trophies.
It was a great weekend for the field of Family and Consumer Science and VA FCCLA! We hope to see you there with your members next year, April 4-6, 2025 in Virginia Beach!
