Welcome to Kindergarten at Madison!
Welcome week details for incoming kindergarten families
This message is being sent to all incoming kindergarten families
What to expect the first week of school
Anoka-Hennepin has a tradition of hosting a “Welcome Week” for kindergarten students, to ensure each student has the time and opportunity to focus on new experiences. The goal is to ensure all students and families get off to a strong start.
Schedule an individual meet & greet on Tuesday, Sept. 3 or Wednesday, Sept. 4
Families are invited to schedule a one-on-one opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, drop off school supplies and familiarize your child with their new classroom. These meetings will be scheduled in 30 minute time slots and will be offered on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4. To schedule your meet & greet, please use this My Conference Time link. There is NO SCHOOL for kindergarteners on those two days.
School begins in a phased approach on September 5 or September 6
This means that half of the students will attend school on Thursday, Sept. 5 and the other half of the students will attend school on Friday, Sept. 6. At Madison, we will have students with last names beginning with A-L attend on Thu. Sept. 5th, and students with last names beginning with M-Z attend on Fri. Sept. 6th.
Welcoming smaller groups of students provides your child’s teacher the ability to provide individualized attention as they introduce students to classroom and school routines such as arrival and dismissal procedures; schedules for small group and full class activities; introductions to physical education, music, art, media, & explorations teachers; and school lunch routines.
All kindergarten students will attend school together beginning Monday, September 9.
Teacher assignments are available now via the ParentVue app. We do not send postcard or letters with teacher assignments, nor do we have capacity to provide that information over the phone for all families. Here are directions on how to Find Your Child's Teacher in ParentVue. Here is help with Logging into ParentVue, or you can contact 763-506-HELP (4357) or email 506HELP@ahschools.us.
Thank you for your attention to this message. We look forward to welcoming your family to Madison Elementary in September and we hope to see all of you at our Back to School Open House on Wednesday, August 28th anytime between 4:30-6:00 PM.
