Week of November 4th - 9th
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for your patience with the delay in sending out this week’s newsletter due to the storms yesterday. We have some great updates to share!
First, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in Red Ribbon Week! We hope it sparked some valuable conversations about the dangers of drugs and helped reinforce the importance of making healthy choices. Special thanks to BancFirst, First National Bank & Trust, and Atwood's of McAlester for donating some fantastic prizes for the week. We will be announcing the lucky winners this week!
We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Choctaw Nation, Project RISE, and Mr. Moore of Jones Academy for organizing a special event last Friday featuring traditional drumming and dancing to kick off National Native American Heritage Month. It was a meaningful experience for our students, and we are grateful for the support of our community partners who make events like this and Red Ribbon Week possible.
Our 6th Grade Basketball teams are wrapping up their season and have done an outstanding job! Both teams showed grit and skill in their last two tournaments. Our 6th Grade Girls were Runner-Up at the Wilburton Tournament, while our 6th Grade Boys took home Championship titles in both the Wilburton and Haywood Tournaments. With only five games left in the season, be sure to catch a game or two and cheer them on.
Meanwhile, Middle School Basketball is just beginning, with their season opener this Thursday, November 7. Let’s support our teams as they start the season strong!
As we approach a busy time of year with events and activities, please help your student stay on top of their responsibilities by using their planner to track assignments and making attendance a priority. We appreciate all you do to support our students’ success and involvement.
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

HMS Building-Wide Expectations
Classroom Expectations
These are our school-wide expectations for our students. Positive behavior fosters an environment where ALL students can learn and grow. It is our hope that our HMS families will discuss our school-wide behavior expectations and encourage positive behaviors at school and home.
Common Areas Expectations
Our school-wide expectations extend beyond the classroom. It is important that students also realize they are accountable for their behaviors in the hallway, cafeteria and at all school sponsored activities on and off campus.
