Spring Updates - April 2024
Buccaneer Families,
As we welcome natures signs of spring, know that in Milford School District, spring also brings growth in student achievement, outdoor sports, new events, important dates, and celebrations . . . including the end of the school year! We have entered our 4th marking period and what we consider to be the home stretch (no pun intended to our baseball fans!) Make certain you check out the district website calendar to stay up to date with the many exciting MSD events! As a reminder, schools will be closed on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, for staff professional development.
Supporting the Whole Student: School Safety
In response to emergencies, crisis, and natural disasters, Milford School District has begun utilizing the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). SRP is a uniform, planned, and practiced response to any incident and is the foundation of a safe school environment. In the event of a live incident, families may have questions about their role. Click the image on the left for more FAQ's. We anticipate hosting a family event in the near future to assist in sharing our safety plans.
Should families come to the school during a secure event? Probably not. Every effort is made to conduct classes as normal during a secure event. Additionally, families may be asked to stay outside during a secure event.
Should families text their students during a lockdown? The school recognizes the importance of communication between families and students during a Lockdown event. Families should be aware though, during the initial period of a Lockdown, it may not be safe for students to text their families.
Academic Excellence
The Lulu Ross Elementary Odyssey of the Mind (OoTM) Team earned first place in the state of Delaware tournament! This earns them the opportunity to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind National event hosted in Iowa this coming May. We are incredibly proud and excited for them. Congratulations!
