From the Principal's Desk

Hi Glen Oaks families,

We are in the middle of our first quarter of the school year, and our students have been doing a wonderful job of engaging in their learning, collaborating with peers, and making connections with their own world. One of our campus goals this year is to make sure our students are engaging in their learning by being provided with higher level thinking questions. This is happening at all grade levels!

We have also been practicing our 7 Habits of Happy Kids, and this month the focus has been Be Proactive! If you would like to engage in a few conversations at home with your child, we have a Leader in Me Parent Guide that provides discussion topics, as well as a list of children's books that relate to each monthly habit. This is a great way to partner with us at home to help build your child's leadership and character.

If you are interested in being part of our Site-Based Decision Making Committee, please email me to let me know you are interested. This committee looks at campus goals and helps determine areas of strength and needs for growth. You can email me at kandrews@mckinneyisd.net. Thanks so much!!

A Message from Nurse Dalton

Hearing, Vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans health screenings for all students of McKinney ISD will be during the first semester of school. Screenings will be conducted next week starting on Monday September 16th.

Texas State Law requires that the following students be screened:

Vision and Hearing PK, KG, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th

All students new to MISD

Acanthosis Nigricans 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th

Please make sure that your child is at school on screening days and please have your child bring any required glasses or contacts to school for health screenings.
