FULL TEXT OF DR. PEPUKAYI'S SEPTEMBER 5 UPDATE
Hello TCPS Families!
I hope you are all settling into your new school year routines. We are HERE! Our secondary teachers are already engaged in professional learning today! Please reach out to your child’s teacher or school office if you have any questions or concerns!
I’m recording this week’s update at the stadium at Easton High. Our fall sports are in full swing, so I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and support the Easton Warriors and the St. Michaels Saints (game schedules are linked below)!
Next week we will celebrate Arts in Education Week. Arts Education includes an array of disciplines, such as music, theatre, media arts, and visual arts. It is a core academic subject here at TCPS, and an essential part of a well-rounded education for all students. Stay tuned as we highlight our students' great work in the arts!
Have a great weekend and remember it’s always a great day for success at TCPS!

WHAT IS TALBOT GOES PURPLE?
Talbot Goes Purple is a substance abuse awareness program that engages our community and youth to stand against substance abuse. TGP is a prevention initiative, and focuses on evidence-based programs and activities with local youth.
The project is based upon THP Project Purple, an initiative of The Herren Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation established by former NBA basketball player, Chris Herren, that assists individuals and families struggling with addiction. To learn more about the Talbot Goes Purple initiative, click on the image or follow "Talbot Goes Purple" on Facebook.
Nationwide, more than 38 million people reported having a substance use disorder last year.
More than 106,000 people in America died last year from drug overdoses.
About 1 in 4 people aged 12+ who needed treatment received it last year.

REQUESTING TRANSPORTATION
Prior to the start of each school year, TCPS is requiring parents to opt in for student transportation to and from school. This information will result in more efficient transportation operation by providing the Office of Student Transportation accurate ridership data. Families will be emailed a link to a Transportation Request form in the month of July to request or decline transportation. Families that do not complete the form for each child will be opted out of transportation services for the school year.
Please note, parents with a student who has transportation provided as part of an IEP will not be affected as eligibility for special needs transportation is determined as part of a separate IEP process.
Students must attend their home school based on their residence in order to receive bus service.
Students attending a school other than their home school are not eligible.
Families can opt back in for transportation at any time, as long as the student qualifies for busing services. The TCPS Student Transportation Request form can be found on our website.
