September brought its share of challenges to our community, so we are happily welcoming a new month! It is hard to believe it, but October is here! We look forward to a great month at BES!

We would like to recognize our fabulous custodial team in honor of Custodian Appreciation Day on October 2. Thank you, Iulian, Bruce, Daniel, Edilia, and Gabriela. We appreciate all you do to keep our school clean and beautiful!

Fire Prevention Week: October 6-12 (We will have a fire drill on October 18.)

Focused on educating the public about fire prevention and safety, this week aims to raise awareness about fire hazards and the importance of having safety plans in place.

Georgia PK Week: October 7-11 (We will celebrate October 1-4)

Celebrated to promote the importance of pre-kindergarten education in Georgia, this week emphasizes early childhood learning and its impact on children's development and future success.

National School Lunch Week: October 14-18

This week highlights the significance of healthy school meals and encourages schools to promote nutritious options for students, emphasizing the role of proper nutrition in education.

School Bus Safety Week: October 21-25

Dedicated to ensuring the safety of students while traveling to and from school, this week promotes awareness of school bus safety rules and practices for both drivers and pedestrians.

Digital Citizenship Week: October 21-25

This week encourages discussions around responsible online behavior, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy, internet safety, and respectful communication in the digital age.

Red Ribbon Week: October 28-November 1

Aimed at promoting drug prevention and awareness, this week encourages students to make healthy choices and live drug-free lives, often featuring activities and campaigns in schools. Theme days will be shared with you soon!

We will observe Fall Break October 7-11. We hope you enjoy this time with your children!

Students will be bringing home information regarding an upcoming fundraiser. We appreciate your support in raising funds to help support purchases for instructional resources and materials. The fundraiser will run from October 16-30.

Need a do-over? Weren't here on the original date? Well, we've got you covered! School picture retakes are scheduled for October 17.

We will be holding parent-teacher conferences from October 21-November 22. Your child's teacher will be inviting you to come to the school to discuss your child's growth and progress during the first trimester. We are excited to meet with you!

Due to the inclement weather, our originally scheduled meeting had to be postponed. The new date and time for this meeting is Thursday, October 24 at 5:00 PM.

There will be a digital learning day on Monday, November 4, followed by a teacher planning day on November 5. Students will not report to school on either date. More information about the assignments/tasks for the digital learning day will be shared by teachers later this month. Stay tuned for more details.
