Appleton Echo
Summer Term 2, Week 5
A word from Mr Broom
Well done to the Rocking Apples for their fabulous assembly performance on Monday. You rock! Also, a huge well done to the 'We Will Rock You' team who are almost performance ready. Y6 will spend the day at Sherburn Hungate, practicing on the stage, before their two live performance next Monday and Tuesday evening. Don't forget to get your tickets!
Tomorrow, you'll also be receiving your child's yearly report, and having watched them all, it's wonderful to see the progress and commitment to learning that our children have shown. You can't fail to be impressed.
Have a lovely long weekend everyone. Remember, school is closed to pupils tomorrow.
This Week in School
Eva makes the 2 million words mark too!
The reading bug has certainly hit at Appleton Roebuck as Eva becomes the second pupil to have read 2 million words in the last couple of weeks. This is an amazing achievement and shows a real dedication and love of reading. Well done Eva!
September in the Appleton Infants Department
As previously mentioned in my letter last month, Mrs Watts and Miss Brough will be leading our infant phase in September. Here they are explaining how it will work.

Our Special Certificate Winners this Week
Car Convos!
Talk is really important for all learners in school and we know that our children are exposed to lots of exciting learning opportunities, both at home and at school. To help develop speaking and listening skills and knowledge of the wider world, we're introducing Car Convos! A topic that we share in the newsletter on a Friday, that families can discuss in the car on their travels. We'll then pick this up after the weekend.
This week's Car Convo centres around the general election.
This week's Car Convo:
'What do you think might change after the General Election on Friday?'
