The 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Students Aid will be available starting October 1st. Complete the FASFA as soon as possible to increase your likelihood of earning aid and work study opportunities.

Important Message from Bronco Express: The current processing time for paperwork, appeals, PLUS loans and alternative loans is four weeks and our response time for email inquiries is five business days. The wait time on the Bronco Express phone line can be an hour or more at peak times. Please encourage callers to utilize the callback feature. Thank you for your patience.

Bronco Study Zone

The BSZ offers an array of resources through a one-stop model to support students and just the right amount of structure to help keep them on track. Services include:

• · Free drop-in assistance for highly challenging courses.
• · Group collaboration on course assignments.
• · Logging mandatory study hours for instructors and organizations.
• · Assistance with coping with test anxiety, effective note taking, time management and test taking strategies among others.

2021- 2022 MI CAPP Education Endowment and Study Abroad Award

These scholarships are for any TRIO FESP participant who has been enrolled in TRIO FESP for at least 1 calendar year as of the time of application submission.

Important Note: These scholarship applications require students to work closely with a TRIO FESP staff member to complete the application packet and provide nomination. You will need to schedule an appointment with Myia or Nateya at least two weeks prior to the due date. We want our students to have the best possible application packet and to ensure this, we need to work together! Please submit application materials no later than Friday November 19, 2021.

I have been an employee at Western Michigan University since 2006. I became the TRIO FESP Director Fall 2015, and I plan to continue providing great opportunities and services to the participants in TRIO FESP. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2003 and a master’s degree in Physical Education-Sports Studies in 2006, both degrees were earned at WMU. I am excited about the upcoming semester, and I look forward to all the amazing activities and events that we have planned for you!

As the Coordinator of Program Services, my educational background consists of an Associate in Science & Arts from Muskegon Community College and a Bachelor of Human Service from Baker College of Muskegon. In addition, I have earned a Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a concentration in College Counseling from Western Michigan University. Go Broncos!

I have the professional credential as a National Certified Counselor granted by the NBCC and I am a Gallup Certified Clifton Strengths Coach.

An important thing to know about me is that I love music! There is something that I like in almost all genres of music (old and new school). Some of my favorite music artists are Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Tevin Campbell, Bruno Mars, Lizzo, Electric Guest, Luther Vandross, HAIM, Phyllis Hyman, Trevor Jackson, Jacob Latimore, Mario, Masego, Janelle Monae, and Kendrick Lamar. So when you see me come say hello, tell me how your semester is going and let me know what music you're currently listening to. You just may help me discover my new fav song!

I am Anitra White the Administrative Assistant II and Office Coordinator for the TRIO FESP Office. I started working in the office in 2021 but have worked in the College of Education since the Fall semester of 2018. Before that, I worked for the Kalamazoo Public School District. My family moved to Michigan in 2010, from Ohio. I enjoy spending time with family, friends and going to live performances. I love to read, my favorite genre is historical fiction. My husband and I have 5 children, 2 graduated from WMU during the pandemic, 1 graduates this Spring and we have 2 middle schoolers left at home. I am glad to finally meet all of the TRIO FESP participants who have visited the office since we have been back in person.

My name is Michaela Shoneye and I am a junior here at Western Michigan. I am majoring Elementary Education and minoring in Science. I enjoy spending my free time with dogs and hanging out with my friends.

Hello my name is Tiara Spain and I am a Sophomore here at Western. I am majoring in Secondary Education Mathematics, and minor in Industrial Technology. Outside of school my hobbies consist of listening to music, and doing makeup!

Hi my name is Abi Shambo I am a third year at WMU. I am majoring in elementary education with a focus on history. I hope to teach 4th or 5th grade and am excited to see where it takes me. In my free time I enjoy taking naps and listening to new music I also enjoy attempting to paint.

My name is Cheyenne Rose-Blankenburg and I am a senior here at WMU. I am currently making my way to becoming a pre-school special ed teacher. I am the Social media & Web Content Facilitator for the TRIO FESP office. I spend my free time in nature with my dog and my husband.

Hi, I am Sutopa Suhrid, a Computer Engineering major at Western Michigan University. I joined TRIO FESP back in 2019 and still a proud member. Also, I am currently doing an internship on Information Technology. Beside my academic life, I really love traveling and adventures. New city, food, culture, people always attracts me. Maybe that is why I love the diverse community of Western Michigan University the most. It has always been my favorite part.

Hello, my name is Sanjeevi Peruri and I am pursuing a Master's in Data Science at WMU. I earned a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2017 and a master's degree in computer technology in 2020. I am very glad to be part of the TRIO family and I love music, arts, traveling, and food.

My name is Favour Obarewon, a senior at WMU with a double major in Aviation flight science and aviation management and operations. I’m from Markham, Illinois. I enjoy traveling, playing basketball, hanging out with friends and working out in my free time.

Hello everyone! My name is Jada, and I am a junior here at Western majoring in Elementary Education. My biggest goal in life right now is to graduate and become a teacher! Listening to music, reading, and playing video games are things that I enjoy. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having fun!

Meaghan Anderson is a senior with the Secondary Education program. While she is a Florida native, she has made her home in Michigan for the past seven years with her son, partner, two dogs, and three cats. When she isn't completing schoolwork or tutoring, she can be found reading, writing, painting, or crocheting, and kayaking in the summer. Her favorite season is Football, and her favorite place on campus is the TRIO FESP office!

I am in my junior year pursuing Mechanical Engineering at WMU. I have been a tutor at TRIO FESP since 2019. I am excited for this semester as most of my classes are in-person. I look forward to learn new skills and get good grades this semester.

My name is Grace Eishen and this is my 5th year in college. I transferred to WMU in 2019 to finish my degree. I am from Battle Creek! I am starting my fieldwork and I am very excited to finish up my degree here. A couple of fun facts; I am the proud owner of a very chunky cat named Purrl, and my birthday falls on the first day of winter!
I am excited for this semester!

Hello, my name is Brandon Cifuentes and I am a senior here at WMU studying Accounting. This will be my second year being a mentor for the TRiO FESP program. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I enjoy playing soccer and volleyball, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends. Hope to see you all soon!
