Fairmount Families Week END Report
03.21.2025
Happy Friday, Fairmount Families!
Spring has officially arrived—but this week reminded us that winter isn’t quite ready to say goodbye just yet! Despite the mix of sunshine and snow, our students enjoyed time outside and even caught a rainbow!
We are incredibly proud of the large number of students who participated in Young Authors this year. Their creativity and dedication to writing were truly inspiring! Be sure to check out the newsletter below for a list of our grade-level and school winners.
Additionally, I want to recognize our 3rd-6th graders for their focus and perseverance during their first week of IAR testing. They have done a fantastic job, and we are so proud of their efforts! Additionally, a shout-out to all of our teachers and staff members who support our students as they navigate these assessments.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Lisa Niforatos

3rd-6th grade students will continue Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) testing next week. These assessments provide valuable insights into student learning and growth.
We appreciate your continued support in ensuring your child arrives on time each day, as a smooth start to the morning helps set the stage for positive engagement in testing. A good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast can also make a big difference in helping students do their best.
Details regarding testing schedules for each grade level are included below. Thank you for your partnership in supporting our students during this time!
Monday, 3/24: Grade 4 and 5 AM Testing
Tuesday, 03/25: Grades 3, 4 and 6 AM Testing; Grade 5 PM Testing

Important Information and Updates
School-Wide Reward: Monsters, Inc.
We are excited to share that the students collectively earned their school-wide reward during the month of February. They have once again filled our "Star Jar" as students continue to demonstrate respectful, responsible and safe behaviors both in and out of the classroom.
On Friday, March 28th, students will watch the movie, Monsters, Inc., which will be done as a grade level buddy activity. While this movie is a reward, it is also one that includes the themes of conquering your fears, friendship, the importance of looking beyond appearances, and the value of doing what's right, even when it's difficult.
If you do not want your child to participate in this school-wide viewing, please email your child's teacher by Wednesday, March 26th, so we can plan for an alternative activity during this time.
Thank you to our 6th Grade Ambassdors for voting for our Spring movie.
1st and 2nd Grade Families: Save the Date
Save the Date as our 1st & 2nd graders present, "An Evening of Entertainment." Please look for additional details from Mrs. Sevilla.

Register for the 2025-2026 School Year by March 31st!
District 58 asks families to complete 2025-26 student registration by Monday, March 31 on the PowerSchool Enrollment platform. We ask the following groups to register online:
All returning District 58 students
All new District 58 students
All current District 58 students (in grades preschool through 7) who will not attend District 58 next year. You will only need to answer two questions confirming your withdrawal.
All outplaced District 58 students (these are students who attend a special education school/program not located at a District 58 school)
All Grove Children’s Preschool students, after receiving admittance into the preschool program
Click here to learn more, including registration links.
Our PushCoin fee system recently sent 2025-26 fee invoices to most returning students entering grades 1-8 for next school year, regardless of registration status. Please note: all students must complete registration in PowerSchool for the 2025-26 school year. Receiving a fee invoice does not indicate that registration is complete. If you are uncertain whether you completed your child's registration, please log on to your PowerSchool Enrollment account and click on "Returning Student Registration" in the left hand navigation menu to check your registration status. Thank you.
Early Dismissal Monday
Monday, March 24 is our next Professional Learning Monday. All students are dismissed at 2:00 p.m. according to their regular dismissal plan. Please be sure you have made arrangements for your child to be picked up from Fairmount at 2:00 p.m. each Monday.

Teacher (& Staff) Feature
We are so glad you are part of our school community! Whether this is your child's first or seventh year at Fairmount, we wanted to provide a fun way to get to know the many members of our teaching and school staff. We started this section two years ago and look forward to continuing it during the 2024-2025 school year. This year we have added a "school twist" for our staff.

A big part of why I became a Teacher/work in a school... is because I enjoy being around children. Also, having the summer 'off' is a nice bonus!
A memorable moment of my time in school was... when I received MVP for basketball and volleyball in the same year.
If I wasn't a teacher/didn't work in a school I would... an event planner or professional organizer!

Student Change in Dismissal
If your child's dismissal plan will be different (e.g. not taking the bus), please communicate this to both the school secretaries and classroom teacher as promptly as possible. This is especially important for our younger students, so we can support their dismissal process. In the event of a last-minute change (anytime after 11:30 a.m.), we ask that you please call the school office (630.719.5830) as staff members may not check their emails prior to daily dismissal.
