MANHATTAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
QUARTER 3
It's a great day to be a Tiger!
LETTER FROM SUPERINTENDENT AYERS
Dear Manhattan Parents/Guardians and Community Members,
We are off and running with the fourth quarter. The finish line is in view, but we still have a lot of work to do this Spring. It is a fitting time to reflect on the journey we have embarked upon together and to look ahead with optimism and determination. The first three quarters have presented us with both successes and challenges, but through our collective efforts, we have demonstrated perseverance, adaptability, and a determined commitment to our shared mission.
Reflecting on the first three quarters, we can take pride in the progress we have made as a school community. We have embraced a four-day school week and navigated anticipated and unanticipated challenges with grace and grit. Through it all, our school community has maintained a focus on student well-being and academic achievement. Our staff have demonstrated unwavering dedication to their craft, and our students and parents have displayed remarkable resilience in the face of significant change. Together, we have overcome the challenges and emerged Manhattan strong.
As we look ahead to the fourth quarter, we must remain vigilant and proactive in our efforts to support our students’ continued growth and success. Together, we will continue to innovate, adapt, and collaborate to ensure that every student receives the support and resources they need to thrive. In the fourth quarter, let us reaffirm our commitment to excellence in education and to the well-being of every member of our school community. Let us celebrate the achievements of our students and educators, while also recognizing the hard work and dedication that lie ahead. By working together with purpose and determination, I am confident that we will finish the academic year strong and set the stage for continued success in the future.
We would like to inform you that there will be no trustee election or general fund operating levy elections in May. We appreciate your continued support and involvement in our school district. Trustees Matt White and Bryan Petersen will be elected by acclamation at the May Board meeting.
Join me the second Tuesday of every month for the Superintendent Advisory Council. All are welcome. The purpose of the council is to solicit input from stakeholders on matters important to the District. Parents and community members meet from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the high school activities room. The final two Superintendent Advisory Councils will seek input on the Manhattan Graduate Profile (policy 1610), eighth grade participation in high school athletics, four-day school week, and general questions for the District. On behalf of the District, I’d like to thank all stakeholders who participated in the Comprehensive Needs Assessment survey. Feedback was considered in setting goals for the 2024-2025 school year. The District is committed to continued transparency and accountability. We will continue to inform all stakeholders via Superintendent Advisory Council meetings, regular school board meetings, Facebook, email, website, and radio.
Thank you to our dedicated educators, supportive parents, and engaged community partners for your ongoing commitment to our school community. Your partnership and support are invaluable, and together, we will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Sincerely,
Brian K. Ayers, Superintendent Manhattan Public Schools
