Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Russ Booth
April 28th, 2024
I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend. We have a few exciting things going on at MHS this week and I encourage all families to come check out the events being hosted. The first event is our Inaugural International Night On Thursday, May 2nd from 6:30-8:00PM. This event was planned through a collaborative effort with our International Club, our Inclusivity, Culture, and Unity team. Staff and students have worked hard to put this night together, so I encourage everyone to come check it out. More information about the event can be found in the flyer below.
Students in our Performing Arts department have been working hard on the spring play called "Kodachrome" and the production will be put on this coming weekend with shows on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th. Both shows are start at 7:00PM. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time through GoFan, or with cash at the door. More information can be found on the flyer below as well.
This past week I sent an email reminder to students and families regarding two reminders related to ID's and parking. Families, please be sure to talk with your student(s) about the need to have their ID in order to purchase lunch. All students will be able to purchase lunch, but students without an ID will be asked to wait at the end of the line. I also mentioned that the Alumni Field project has started and there is a need to adjust senior parking to account for some of the spaces we are losing due to the construction project. Seniors should utilize spaces in the lot prior to the yellow ballasts in the lot and have their parking passes clearly displayed to ensure we can effectively maintain appropriate parking in the lot.
I hope everyone has enjoyable remainder of their weekend, and I encourage everyone to get up to MHS at the end of the week to check out the incredible events we have going on.
Performing Arts Department Presents Kodachrome!
The MHS Performing Arts Department will present Adam Szymkowicz's dramatic comedy Kodachrome next Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th at 7 pm in the MHS auditorium. This play is about the small town of Colchester, CT, where everybody knows each other, and the pace of life allows the pursuit of love to take up as much space as it needs. Our tour guide, Suzanne, the town photographer, lets us peek into her neighbor's lives to catch glimpses of romance in all of its stages of development. This family-friendly play is about love, nostalgia, the seasons, and how we learn to say goodbye.
