Hello Cleveland Families!
Cleveland is a special school community for many reasons, but one reason stands out to me this week: our incredible family and community support.
You cheer for our athletes, support our community events, donate time and money, and share about our work with your friends and neighbors. This week, you went out of your way to send your love and appreciation to Cleveland staff.
On behalf of Cleveland's staff, I want to thank the many families in our phenomenal PTSA who offered their time, thought, and energy into the staff appreciation breakfast this week. You prepared an incredible spread of food, gifts, and hot drinks, and stuck around to tell staff how much you appreciate their hard work in person. Thank you. We are spoiled by your warmth and generosity.

High School & Beyond Planning this week in advisory
This Wednesday Dec 18th, during advisory, students will be working on their required HSBP tasks. The High School & Beyond Plan (HSBP) is a Washington State requirement designed to help students set goals and plan for their future, including post-high school career and college plans. Seattle Public Schools uses Naviance to support students in creating their High School Graduation Plan.
The State of Washington mandates that all students create a High School and Beyond Plan. Seattle Public Schools expects students entering grade 8 to begin developing a 5-year plan, which includes 4 years of high school courses, a resume or activity log, and post-high school career and college goals. This plan should be updated over time as the student refines their high school plans. School counselors, staff, and parents assist students in developing their individual plans using district-approved tools.

Seniors: Order your cap & gown before winter break!
It is important seniors place their order before Winter Break – if they miss the group order placed with the manufacturer, they will need to pay additional costs for an individual order. We are using a plain red gown with a specialized 2025 graduation stole.
If students had a sibling that graduated recently and fit in their gown, they can reuse the gown and only order a stole for $30
Please continue to check our school website for continued updates for the Class of 2025.
Come share about your career path with Cleveland students!
The College Career Leadership Team (CCLT) at Cleveland is reaching out to see if you (or any friends, family, coworkers, or acquaintances) would be willing to speak to Cleveland students about your career path. This is for a new event series we’re currently calling “Career Cafes”. Based on student feedback from previous years, we are aiming to provide more active and concrete career education to our 9th and 10th graders. Students have indicated that they need more in-person interaction with adults working in various fields.
If you or someone you know might be interested, reach out to counseling intern Izzy Steiger using this contact information with or fill out this Microsoft Form. We are looking for around 12-24 volunteers and a wide variety of career fields, so don't hesitate to recommend anyone!
