All schools will be closed January 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
All CCSD 89 schools and the district office will be closed on Monday, January 20, for Martin Luther King Jr., Day. All CCSD 89 buildings will re-open on a regular schedule on Tuesday, January 21.
Update: January 24 Restaurant Night Reserve 22 only
Due to a private event, Ellyn's Tap and Grill had to pull out of being part of restaurant night on January 24. Reserve 22 will still be giving 20% back to the PTC.
PTC Movie Night: January 24
Please join us for a PTC sponsored movie night and restaurant night on Friday, January 24, at 6:30 p.m.!
We will be showing The Wild Robot. Restaurant night will be at Reserve 22 and Ellyn's. Keep a lookout for flyers in backpacks with more information. We are aiming to do all of the registration and payment online, so please scan the QR code or click the links below to register. Glen Ellyn Community Cupboard donations
The 2nd grade Park View Elementary Brownie Troop is helping to gather supplies for the Community Cupboard at the Glen Ellyn Library. The Community Cupboard collects personal hygiene items, baby products (such as diapers and wipes), facial tissue, and deodorant for those who need it.
An informational flyer with the library's Wish List will be sent home next week in student folders. There will be a box at the school office to collect items until the end of Monday, February 10. Please donate to help our community! One donation can make a difference! Questions about this effort can be sent to emilyhenkels@gmail.com.

Panther Pride event date change: March 14

Attention all Park View parents! We had so much fun last year, we are bringing it back again this year! Join us for a memorable night out with trivia, food, drinks, games, raffles, prizes and more. Whether you are a trivia pro or newcomer, this event is for everyone. Registration is now open.
Glen Ellyn looking to hire crossing guard for Park View intersection
The Glen Ellyn Police Department is looking to hire a crossing guard who can help Park View students get to school safely. The crossing guard would help students cross Park Boulevard at the Sheehan Avenue stoplight. The position is from 8:20 to 8:50 a.m. and 3:30 to 4 p.m., five days a week when school is in session (no weekends, holidays, or summer).
Crossing guards are managed through the Glen Ellyn Police Department. Crossing guards are provided with training and equipment. The pay starts at $29 per hour.

2025-26 preschool pre-registration is now open

Let’s pack the house for unified basketball game on January 17!
Students, families, and community members are invited to “pack the house” to cheer on the CCSD 89 unified basketball team during their game at 4 p.m. Friday, January 17, at Glen Crest Middle School. Families invited to share feedback on advanced programming
CCSD 89 families are invited to attend the online focus group sessions to share their experiences and hopes for the future of the district’s advanced programming. The district has held two in-person meetings; the final meeting will be held online at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 22. Monthly cookies, slushy Fridays available with school lunches
Quest Food, the company that provides CCSD 89 school lunches, has added some free treats to the usual school menu. Students who get a school lunch on the first day of the month will now also receive a cookie with their meal. (more info) On Fridays, any student receiving a meal will also receive a 100% juice slushy cup. (more info)
Make sure your contact info is up to date
When school buildings need to close due to extreme weather, information will be released through a phone message, as well as the district’s website (www.ccsd89.org) and Facebook page (facebook.com/CCSD89). The district’s messaging system uses contact info supplied by guardians so it is important you contact the school secretary and update your records if they have changed. Even when school is open, students should dress for the cold. Students will continue to go outside for recess as long as the weather remains above 10 degrees.
Students invited to participate in organ donor poster contest
Illinois students in kindergarten through high school can submit artwork to the Illinois Secretary of State Organ/Tissue Donor Awareness Student Poster Contest. The contest is held every two years to raise awareness. Winners receive gift cards and their poster is distributed across the state. More information: https://bit.ly/40hAuf7
Music Boosters will meet to plan Music Café at 6 p.m. on January 22
The Music Boosters will be planning for the annual Music Café during their next meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22. The meeting will be held via Zoom. All families are welcome to attend. You can help pick the next Illinois state flag
All Illinois residents are invited to vote in the Illinois flag redesign contest. After reviewing more than 4,800 entries, the Illinois Flag Commission has made finalists available for a public vote through February 14.
