Dear GES Families and Community:
We had originally planned to attend The Nature Museum's Eclipse Watch Party as a school. As a supervisory union, we pivoted to an Early Release Day to ensure student safety. The great news is...the community and families are still invited to join! GES staff are planning to attend and we hope to see you there.
As a reminder, our Survey is STILL OPEN and we WANT YOUR FEEDBACK. Please click the button below to tell us what you think!
Best,
Angela Cartier
GES Principal
A message from The TNM Education Team:
Museum's Solar Eclipse Viewing Party & Open House from 12PM - 5PM on Monday 04/08 is FREE to all GES students, student families, staff, and staff families. We will have eclipse glasses on hand for folks to use! Unfortunately, we'll have to keep the eclipse glasses at the museum to ensure we have enough for however many folks show up. BUT, if you have any students who would like to view the eclipse but cannot make it to the museum (Very understandable given it's a normal workday for most folks) contact me directly and we can try and work something out. We want to help make sure that this is a truly memorable experience for students!
All the best,
The TNM Education Team
WRITING EVER DAY for ALL STUDENTS
Our Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) has prioritized writing, with all students engaging in daily writing opportunities. This week, we had the pleasure of witnessing our kindergarten students proudly display their writing skills during our all-school meeting.
Panther Paw Jar
1st and 2nd Grade
During science we have started our animal adventures unit! Students begin to develop an understanding of the world's animal biodiversity. They explore animal classification and the traits that define each group. Students then turn their focus to habitats and how the surrounding environment affects what organisms live in a particular environment.
During this activity, students worked in teams and played an animal sorting game. First and second graders studied animal traits and used these traits to sort the animal cards into mammals, birds, reptiles, and invertebrates.
3rd and 4th Grade
Students learned about Interdependence in Ecosystems engaging in a food web activity at The Nature Museum on Monday. Students will be incorporating this concept into our performance piece in the Kidder Hill woods.
