Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons
Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

Cretin Knocks Eastview Boys Hockey Team Out of Section Playoffs in Overtime Heartbreaker
The boys varsity hockey team’s season ended Monday February 26 with a 3-2 overtime loss to Cretin-Derham Hall in a Class 3AA semifinal game at Braemar Arena. The Lightning started strong with a 12-7 first-period shots-on-goal advantage and a goal by Senior Forward Caleb Nelson. Cretin tied the game with 7:24 in the second period, but seconds later, Senior Forward Jordan Brothers scored his 20th goal of the season, assisted by Sophomore Forward Sam Wooten and Senior Defenseman Brayden Kaldenbach. Cretin took a 12-4 shots-on-goal advantage in the third period, and scored a power play goal at 6:04 to tie the game at 2-2. The Raiders outshot Eastview 7-1 in the overtime period and scored an even-strength winner at 5:50 of overtime. The loss ended a memorable season for the varsity boys, and came as a shock after a 7-0 win over Hasting in the Section 3AA quarterfinal on Thursday February 22. That game featured goals by Junior Defenseman Max Powers-Brekke, Senior Forwards T.J. Kelsey, Billy Downs and Zach Wooten, Sam Wooten and two by Brothers. The Lightning finished their season with an 18-8-1 record, including a 13-3 second-place mark in the South Suburban Conference. A number of Eastview players deserve post-season honors so watch for the announcements in March.
