HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI
1 March 2024
Week 5, Term 1
Acting Assistant Principal's Message
We have had a busy few weeks with many activities and events happening throughout the school. It is hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through the term. It has been great to see the exciting learning that is happening in the classrooms and to see and hear about the growth the students have been making over the last five weeks.
This week Tracey has been away on bereavement leave. Our sincere condolences go out to Tracey as she mourns the loss of her mother-in-law. During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Tracey and her whānau, and we send heartfelt sympathy from the Hautapu School community.
Kōwhai and Rimu classrooms spaces are shortly undergoing full renovations. Suzy and Belinda have been busy moving their resources into their new learning spaces in the multi purpose room and the library while these renovations take place. During this time the library will remain closed to class visits, so students will not be able to issue books until at least the end of this term.
This morning at the whole school assembly we introduced our PALs (Physical Activity Leaders), and congratulated them on their new role within the school. The role of our PALs leaders is to foster their leadership skills by leading physical activities and games at lunchtimes and to support teachers in classroom sport activities. We look forward to the PALs leaders working with our tamariki.
Next Friday all our Year 7 and 8 student leaders and PALs leaders will be attending the Leadership Day at Hautapu Sport Club. During the day our students have the opportunity to work alongside other student leaders from schools across Cambridge. The students will also have guest speaker Brooke Neal, former Black Sticks hockey player, who will speak to the students about her journey through high performance sport, wellbeing and leadership. Thank you to Stephanie Barr who has organised this event and provided our tamariki with this wonderful opportunity.
Also a reminder regarding the upcoming Bingo Night which is being organised by the Hautapu School Helping Hands, we thank them for all their work in preparing for this event. This event is helping to raise money for resources to support our children with learning. If you would like a fabulous night filled with fun, games and prizes then please book your tickets! Tickets cost $25 and are available to purchase through Kindo. Please note this is an adults only event.

Buddy Seat Glow Up
The Student Council would like to brighten up our 'buddy bus stop' seat, by painting the seat in bright colours.
The seat is used by students who would like a friend to play with, tamariki sit on the seat if they would like a friend and if someone is seen sitting on the seat, a kind person passing by will ask them to play or help them to find a friend.
The Student Council is kindly asking our community to help, there are a variety of ways you can help.
- Bring in any brightly coloured house paint to the office, which you may have at home which whānau would be happy to donate.
- We will also love help with preparing and painting the seat, so if you are able to offer any assistance, please get in touch with Geraldine in the office or Belinda in Kōwhai class or email hoebergenb@hautapu.school.nz
Thank you for your support.
