Principal Message
Mrs. Rumple's October Message
Fall is in full swing, bringing with it the end of the first grading period, Fall Break, and fun holidays. The first week of October ends our first grading period. I encourage you to speak with your student regarding his or her grades and any final assignments for the quarter. If you find your student is still in need of extra help, our tutoring program has started and runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:45 to 4:45pm until May 1, 2025. Please contact the office if you are interested in signing your student up for tutoring (transportation is available). Fall Break is October 21-25, and we hope everyone is able to take advantage of the break to rest and recharge as we head into the final stretch of the first semester. We will continue to go outside for recess as long as the weather cooperates. Students may want to make sure they have a jacket or sweatshirt in the lockers for the days they go out for recess.
To continue promoting a positive school community and engagement at school, we will continue our Justice tradition of celebrating First Fridays throughout the school year. The first Friday of each month will have a dress up day, and most months will have a corresponding activity during the school day. Our First Friday dress up days for the rest of first semester are as follows:
October 4, 2024: Fall Friday (wear Fall Colors)
November 1, 2024: Flannel Friday (wear flannel shirts)
December 6, 2024: Blue Christmas Friday (wear blue)
I thank you for your continued support and partnership in the education of all of our students. This is our time to BEE GIANTS, and we continue to dedicate our time and energy to this task. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
A Moment with Mrs. Siders
We cannot wait to see you at our Family Literacy Night on Thursday, October 3rd from 5:30-7:00. Enjoy games, prizes, a snack and more! Please encourage your student to participate in our dress up days this week as we "Discover the Mystery of Reading."

Library News with Mrs. Persinger
Book Fair is coming soon!!!
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school September 30 to October 4! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child through the excitement of bringing home new books. Research shows that kids read more when they choose their own books, and fostering a love for independent reading can lead to numerous benefits, including academic success and improved mental health. The Book Fair plays a vital role in supporting our library, as profits go toward purchasing new books for our collection.
Don't forget to shop on-line from September 30 to October 4 or set up your eWallet today. This digital payment account allows your child to shop without cash, making the experience even easier. You can also share your eWallet link with friends and family, so they can contribute funds as well. See the link below!

Thank you for helping us promote literacy and a love for reading!
Music Time by Gwenivere Seegers
Starting on Monday, September 30th, all band students will be allowed to take their instruments home once a week and over the weekend! Here are 5 ways you can become involved in your student's musical practice!
1. Encourage Practicing often: Encourage your student to always bring their instrument home on their designated day. Practicing should become a part of your weekly schedule!
2. Provide a designated practice space: Just like with homework, it is helpful for your child to have a set place to practice, away from distraction and electronic devices. In warmer weather, students can even practice outside!
3.Be an active participant: Pull up a chair and listen to a song they are working on. Ask them questions about what they are working on, what parts are most challenging, their favorite song, and more.
4. Listen to recordings of your student's instrument: There are many wonderful recordings of individual instruments and full bands playing! Try looking up "Professional (instrument name) player"

Let's Work Together
It’s hard to believe that October is here! Our volleyball team continues to improve with each competition, and this month is especially significant as it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our players will be wearing their pink uniforms for both home and away games. Home games start at 6 PM, so come out and support our team while championing a worthy cause! Remember, there are only two weeks left in the season.
Our cross country club has participated in two home meets, showcasing outstanding performances from both the boys and girls. The last meet is on October 1st. If you missed joining the team this fall, don’t worry—our track club will begin in March!
Boys basketball open gyms will start in October, so interested students should listen for announcements during school and at lunchtime. Girls basketball open gyms will begin in November.
One of my favorite basketball players growing up was Los Angeles Laker Earvin "Magic" Johnson, who once said, "All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and somebody who believes in them." Thank you to all the adults who work with and believe in our student-athletes. Let’s continue to collaborate to provide the best opportunities for our kids.
Life is a team activity!
Best,
Coach Alsup
